Life After War Box Set 1-3 (Life After War Box Sets Book 1) (English Edition) Kindle版
Some of the survivors are different, powerful. Their bloodlines have been brought together in this time and place to create safety for the remnants of all societies. Fated to lead and rebuild, these magnetic women and men are now the most valuable commodity in the apocalyptic wastelands.
Nuclear war devastated the world just days before Christmas. All governments went underground, leaving their citizens to fend for themselves. The desperate normals who barely managed to stay alive must now make a choice. Do they join the strange, dangerous survivors in forming a more perfect union or do they kill every last one of them? One choice will save the world. The other will finish burying it under the nuclear ashes.
Book One centers around the first group of chosen people who find each other amid the relics of America. Brought together by a man with many secrets, they struggle to adapt to an ever-changing new world while trying to build the first post-war safe haven for humanity.
This is Safe Haven“We offer food, shelter, and protection to all survivors. Does anyone copy? …hello? Is anyone alive out there?”
The end of the world has given humanity a harsh, merciless existence, where nature tries hard to push us to the very brink of extinction. Everything is against us, between us. Untold miles of lawless, apocalyptic roads wait for our feet, and the future, cold and dark, offers little comfort. Without change, there can be no peace—only survivors.

It gets worse. The 'good' survivors appear to be almost exclusively white, gun-loving devotees of a militaristic lifestyle. The pervading culture is one of mysogenism (surprising for a female author), racism and homophobia. The 'forces of evil' are mainly Mexicans, invading their northern neighbours intent on murdering, enslaving and raping their way across the US landscape. Add to this the fact that pages and pages are devoted to mind-numbing ever-circling conversations between completely unrealistic lead characters, part spoken, part 'telepathic'.....Enough! I could point to sources of similar ideas - The Stand by Stephen King comes to mind, overblown indulgence in my view but infinitely better written than this.
I see a lot of readers have awarded five stars, which all goes to show, I suppose, that we all have different expectations - they can't all be family and friends of the author! As I said at the start, the book was free, and worth every penny...

There are plenty of great books out there. I'd read one of those, instead of this. Even at 90p it's a waste.

This is a story of life after a nuclear war set in America, The book started slow, but this is a good thing as it gives some background information on the main characters and how they all get together, also their hardships and sometimes brutal treatment at the hands of other survivors along with their traits and fears for the future.
I Thought this was not my type of book but the more I read the more I liked the style and way the author describes the situations of the survivors.
Not much more I can say as this is yet another nuclear holocaust novel, but I feel that it is better than the average story that includes mild violence and love elements.
As there are a lot of things happening within these books I will leave it at that as I could write page after page to describe the events within these pages. 5 STARS a winner as far as I was concerned.

Started out as a good story but the authors insistence on pushing the female lead higher and higher up her awesomeness pedestal soon had me liking Angie less and less until i started wishing the character just got killed off already.
Not for me.
