Cee Lo kills it...
2011年4月12日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済みAmazonで購入
Cee Lo Green is the epitome of popular at the moment. Everyone knows who he is, he has collaborated with everybody and his song, `F You', is used to promote everything, including the hit show `Glee'. He is something new and exciting despite the fact that he is such an old soul, dabbling in music that has all but disappeared from modern radio.
`The Lady Killer' is one of my favorite debut albums ever, so let's take this track by track.
`Bright Lights Bigger City' is a slick way to open the album, getting things off to a great start with a nice mix of up-tempo nostalgia with a modern twist that keeps it feeling fresh and exciting. Cee Lo's vocals are an instant standout; he's unmistakable. He wears his style on his tongue, and it makes for songs that make your body move instantaneously. `F You' is the song we all know and love and can't hear enough of even though we hear too much of it. Despite the fact that it rotates the radio stations almost every fifteen minutes, the song is still infectiously engaging and it just never grows old (I'm sure it will eventually, but as of yet I still adore it). The beat is bouncy deliciousness; it's the perfect `sing along' song even if the lyrical message isn't one you want to necessarily `sing along' too.
What a conundrum!
`Wild Flower' feels a little too dated to me, but it's still infectious to a certain degree. It's one of the albums weaker tracks though.
`Bodies' was such a sensational single because it was so vastly different than `F You'. `Bodies' is darker, more mature in many ways. Cee Lo's vocals are very strong, catching emotional shifts as he reaches a higher pitch. The stunning mesh of atmospheric musical arrangements, lyrical content and precise vocal delivery make this track a total highlight. I don't know why, but `Love Gun' totally reminds me of a James Bond theme song or something. It has that nostalgia element wrapped up in the musical arrangement, and the gun shots add an element of surprise (campy, but fun nonetheless). Lauren Bennett's guest vocals are the tracks strongest element; she just adds so much seductive aggression to the song.
`Satisfied' does nothing for me actually. It's probably my least favorite song on the album. It crosses that line of `fun and bouncy' and becomes `tacky and irrelevant'. The one thing that I love so much about Cee Lo Green is that he understands how to `bring back' a style of music that is long since past and make it feel accessible and relevant today. `Satisfied' misses that mark by a large margin.
But then he steps his game up in a big way on `I Want You', a song that just nails everything. The chorus is pop-made heaven, but it never feels juvenile. It layers simple yet strong vocals over catchy lyrics with a musical arrangement that utilizes the best points of this `breed' of music (the horns are expertly used here). It feels like a classic, while never losing its new age feel.
This is it, my god.
`Cry Baby' is a lot of fun. I just see `Soul Train' when the song plays.
`Fool for You' is utterly PERFECT. Enlisting Phillip Bailey, Cee Lo shines gloriously here. This is total comfort for him, but it also shows so much edge and maturity. His vocals are flawless and the darker tones to the song just elevate every aspect of the track. It's catchy, but not in a `sunny' kind of way. It feels far more adult than a lot of his songs. This song feels rich; it's dripping. `It's OK' is much like `I Want You' in that it finds a perfect balance of nostalgia and new-age edge and dramatics that make it feel fun, fresh and modern. The song bounces along at a great pace that captures the emotion of the song while conveying a free-spirited feeling that is infectious to the listener. It's a great song, period. `Old Fashioned' gets the ballad done right, feeling `old fashioned' yet not at the same time. It's soft and sincere, with a ting of real earnestness that is carried by some outstanding vocals that run the gamut in the range department.
`No One's Gonna Love You' ends the album beautifully. It has the air of a ballad with the texture of an up-tempo track, combining the two for something that feels unique in its own; a song to remember the album by. Cee Lo sings his butt off here, and it christens the album perfectly.
After listening to that song you'll be dying to replay the entire album.
That is really the great thing about `The Lady Killer', it is an album that you'll want to listen to over and over again. Because Cee Lo Green is attaching a genre of music that is unknown to most young ones today, it's like he's shedding a whole new light on some lost treasure, and I adore him for that.
He's bringing `cool' back!
For those of you interested, my ranking:

2) Fool for You
3) I Want You

5) F You
6) No One's Gonna Love You
7) It's OK

Bright Lights Bigger City - How It Should Be Done!!
2010年11月10日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済みAmazonで購入
Cee-Lo Green, member of Gnarls Barkley & Goodie Mob, finally releases his long awaited and much anticipated 3rd solo album Lady Killer. Cee-Lo has had quite the year so far making timely guest appearances on some of the bigger albums of the year as well as releasing a successful mixtape Stray Bullets which featured his vintage soul stylings over eclectic beats. He made a splash with his buzz single "Georgia" which is mysteriously missing from this release. However, he managed to come up with arguably the best song of the year "F. You". The song and its viral video instantly became a sensation and rightfully so with its playful yet serious tone and subject matter. That's not to mention the sheer catchiness and accessibility of the song's chorus and melody with the velvet voice laid over it. In a word, the song is perfect and stands as his greatest achievement thus far.
While the announcement that there would be absolutely no rapping on Lady Killer upset most hip hop fans (rightfully so as he is one of the more prolific rappers as well but don't worry the MoB is back together), he proves that he is also one of the great singers of the generation. Cee-Lo Green has a certain unique high quality voice that is a pleasure to hear every time. Smooth yet rugged at the same time. The production is also great perfectly fusing many different genre elements into one highly enjoyable experience. The songwriting is poignant and clever. I'd have to say my favorite songs are Love Gun, Bodies, F. You, I Want You, Cry Baby, and Old Fashioned but the entire album is worthy of praise and celebration.
With Lady Killer, Cee Lo Green has outdone his previous efforts. If you love and appreciate great music and singing then this album is a must buy. In my opinion there's been several monumental albums (Janelle Monae, Nneka and Sir Luscious Left Foot instantly come to mind) and this is certainly and easily one of the top albums released this year. You need this album! 5 stars.

Fab Album, poor condition

I love this album and I listen to it a lot so no issues there. I bought this as a gift for my mum for mothers day as she really wanted it. Cd arrived with a huge scratch/dent on the front which could have damaged the cd itself. I would have left seller negative feedback but I am uncertain if they are responsible or if this happened in transit as I've never had that happen before and also another cee lo cd I ordered came in the same state so God knows what has happened or how people are handling products. For those who are fans or just trying the cd out. My favourite songs on this album are: Satisfied, Old fashioned, I want you and bodies. Great mix of slow and upbeat cathy soulful jazzy vibe. There never has and never will be anything wrong with Cee Lo's voice. He exceeds expectations every time I listen to him and is a class act that has quite frankly already proven himself as 'Old fashioned' at heart. So to all his haters...Forget Yooooooooou! :)

More Than A One Track Wonder, But Not Much

I'll happily admit I bought this on the strength of seeing him perform on Jools Holland's New Year Hootenanny TV show. All I really wanted or knew was "Forget You" so the rest of the CD was new to me.
Ignoring the opening track - a daft, bad attempt at a concept introduction - the first song proper is a catchy reuse of the base line form Thriller. Then comes Forget You and then... Well, it's fine, but pretty unmemorable. I've played it through in the car a few times, but find myself hitting repeat for Forget You and it's more vulgar, but better brother F**k You again and again.
The thing that attracted me most form his TV performance was his voice so I'm surprised to find that on many tracks thsi is not mixed more prominently. It's not exactly lost in the mix, but not out there on show either. Maybe it's my desire to listen that is at odds with the main purpose, dancing at a club.
All of that said, worth it for the few tracks I liked and I look forward to a new CD in future that might focus more on his voice.
