She shines!2019年9月22日 - (Amazon.com)
Her voice is as powerful and resonant as ever. This is the voice of a woman who has lived! Just wish she was backed by a better band on this one. The production and music surrounding her voice on Alabama Shakes was far superior to what is produced here. Her voice should only be surrounded by the best. Here her voice is almost drowned out by background noise on some of the tracks. The four stars are for her voice and writing.
It's Brittany Howard's World2019年10月9日 - (Amazon.com)
I was a little skeptical about Jaime before I heard it. Alabama Shakes' two records are two of the best rock and roll albums of the decade, and Sound and Color, in particular, is an absolute masterpiece. But what would happen to that monster voice without that band? No worries, because Brittany is still Brittany, and although this record veers more toward freak soul than southern rock, it still brings down the house. The opener "History Repeats" starts the show with some junkyard funk, "He Loves Me" gets spiritual, and "13th Century Metal" rides hard on an avant rock jam. "Stay High," which takes an early 70s Van Morrison vibe and reclaims it for southern soul, is her best radio single since "Hold On." This is an essential record.
CALLED IT!!!2019年9月22日 - (Amazon.com)
I'm not knocking Alabama Shakes because I love them, but I always felt that Brittany Howard needed to spread her wings. Every article I've ever read about Alabama Shakes seemed to kind of focus on the vocals and guitar skills of Brittany Howard, every single one. I said from the very first album, "She needs to fly, soar solo, she's going to do it someday, I can feel it." Well, she did and we are THANKFUL. This solo effort has been on repeat since I downloaded it.
