Jaguar XK: A celebration of Jaguar's 1950s classic (Haynes Great Cars) (英語) ハードカバー – 2008/12/1
Nigel Thorley has been involved with Jaguars all his life, having owned 68 at the time of writing. His first Jaguar came at the age of 18, and he has owned most models over the years, currently owning a 5.0 litre XK Portfolio convertible and an XJ saloon.
Nigel has written over twenty titles on the Jaguar marque, including several of the Essential Buyer's Guides for Veloce Publishing. He is a founder member and director of the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club and has edited its magazine Jaguar Enthusiast since 1984. Having previously edited Jaguar Driver magazine, he has also written for many other forms of media.
This book is well organized and thorough with wonderful large photographs and sketches throughout. What I liked best is that there were no obvious errors in text and the photographs it uses seemed correct for the period being discussed. The 152 page book is divided into 12 chapters, with one chapter on introduction and acknowledgements, one chapter on design and development, four chapters on the XK120, one chapter on the XK140, two chapters on the XK150, one chapter on pictorial comparison of the various XK models in profile, and the last chapter showing some special body XKs, celebrity owners of XKs and XK toys and nick-nacks. I rate this book equal to the Jaguar E-Type book and the Jaguar Mark 1 & 2 book in the same series and recommend it to anyone with an interest in these cars.
