Ted Hughes' spine-chilling and mesmerizing tale is widely regarded as a modern classic. Mankind trembles before the destruction wrecked by the Iron Man as he devours tractors, fences and ploughs, until a terrifying monster from outer space threatens to destroy the planet, and their former enemy becomes their saviour.
Ted Hughes was appointed Poet Laureate in 1994. His many volumes of poetry for adults include HAWK IN THE RAIN, ELMET, and MOORTOWN DIARY, and he has written widely for children, including three collections of stories, the first of which, HOW THE WHALE BECAME & OTHER STORIES, is published simultaneously in Penguin Audiobooks.
I am 8 years old and I think you should read this book because when I read it I felt like I was Hogarth. One of the things I liked about it was that the Iron Man gave a monster a burning surprise. I also like Hogarth because he's smart and also helpful. He comes up with a lot of ideas that are useful and he's only a kid. WOW!!!! I also like it because I felt like I was being sucked into the book and having an adventure. You should get this book for your kid because they would like it a lot. I mean it!
