今回私が購入したのは、ASIN: B0012GN42M、EAN： 0886972418629のコードからなる商品です。
ＣＤケースの縁が透明になっており、５ページほどのブックレットがついています。歌詞は掲載されていません。
earth wind & fireの作品の中では賛否両論のある（やや賛が多いと思いますが）本作ですが、個人的には一番
の名作である思います。彼らの作品の中には必ずと言ってよいほどバラードが数曲入っていて、確かに美しい
曲が多いのですが、個人的にはどうしてもだれてしまいます。その点今作ではバラードが少なく、その分キレの
良いリズムを前面に押し出した曲が多いです。最も有名なのは「boogie wonderland」でしょうが、「in the stone」
や「cant let go」も名曲だと思います。（なお、「rock that」ではtotoのスティーブ・ルカサーが参加していますが、彼にしては
いまいちしまりのない演奏です。）ボーナストラックも数曲収録されていますが、あくまでおまけのような曲です。
リマスター効果はまずまずといったところですが、音圧はやや低めです。

ＥＷ＆Ｆは大好きでよく聴きますが、デイヴィット　フォスターが作曲したafter the love has goneは最も好きな曲です。ぜひ多くの人に聴いてほし曲です。アルバム全体を聴くと、とてもバランスの良くとれた曲が収録されていると思います。

EWF laid out an abundance of great classic albums during the 70s, 80s and even into the 90s but this one here's my favourite of them all. It's probably because it's the first EWF album I ever bought. I remember seeing all the happy people on "Soul Train" dancing to "In The Stone" back in the day and falling immediately in love with their sound. I got the record shortly after and have been an EWF fan ever since. 1979 was a really good year for music.

As I suppose most folk know already, back then, EWF were the quintessential band, complete with vocalists, rhythm section and horns. I just adore the sound of Maurice White's voice. Philip Bailey's I can take or leave but I do admit the two voices complement each other incredibly well. The album had quite a number of hits: apart from "In The Stone", there's "After The Love Has Gone" - the full-length version with its fabulous sax solos in the middle and at the end - and "Boogie Wonderland", the song they did with their backing vocal trio The Emotions - who already had a very successful career in their own right, if only for a minute. (Their 1977 classic "Rejoice" containing evergreens like "Best Of My Love" and "Don't Ask My Neighbors" is simply unmissable, IMHO)

Produced by White, every song on this disc is a winner. They are excellently produced and arranged, and they exemplify how an album is supposed to be made - all the songs flow nicely into one another - but I do have my favourites: "In The Stone", "Can't Let Go", "After The Love Is Gone", the instrumental "Rock That!" and "You And I". This is a great album to sing along to and it always cheers me up whenever I'm feeling down.

This is also the first of my EWF albums to go to compact disc and it was a real struggle - I've treasured my foldout vinyl copy for almost three decades now - but I needed to be able to play it in my car and sadly, the vinyl just had to go.

I understand there's an updated version of this CD available now, with new tracks but this is one occasion where I'm playing purist. I'm more than happy to stick with things the way they were intended to be.

I'm going to comment on the sound quality only, so if you're not interested in that look away now..
I was concerned that this is a Music on Vinyl release, for it's well known that they release many records cut from a digital source (albeit an allegedly high quality copy), however I needen't have been. This may have been from the tape source, but I have no way of knowing for sure.
I also have the original vinyl LP and the 12" 45rpm of Boogie Wonderland as well as the streamed Tidal CD-rate version and compared them back-to-back. This MOV release trumps all of them.
The original LP is relatively ponderous, without detail and lifeless. The 45 is all-round better as well as being extended, however it has treble so high it will clean your ears out, and it's only one track! The streamed version is poor by comparison to all the other versions.
My system is ultra hi-end and setup by one of the world's best.

Best Album by far from the legendary EARTH WIND & FIRE

Just Buy It - Sit Back & Enjoy.

This being one of EWF's finer albums, just proves that after ten years of hard work and a decade of black music transformation, that Earth, Wind & Fire were one of the finest African-American groups of the 1970's. "I Am" is the first album of their 70's collection that waited two years of release since their previous release "All `N' All" (1977).

This 1979 release contains a mixture of spiritual grooves that capture the life of the listener and the times past, a sensation of get-up-and-dance waves of music collaboration, profound romanticism and a well composed production with the aid of a very consistent nine-piece band.

"I Am" is the no 1, album. If you're an Earth, Wind & Fire fan, you already know what I'm talking about, and if you just want to dance, open your heart to love and fantasy, this album is the CD that you will need in your stereo, playing every day. This is the first of the commercial-original compositions, and boy, did they do a good job!
