アデル・マリー・クラウチさんの、かわいらしいバイリンガル絵本シリーズです。多言語バイリンガル本を数多く出されています。日本語版は、旧版の翻訳が不評で、別の訳者で新版に改訂されていますが、注文のタイミングによっては、旧版が発送されてしまう場合もあるため、その場合は、新版への商品交換(返品)の可能期間などにお気を付け下さい。純粋無垢なキツネのぼうやがチャーミングです。
One of Adele Marie Crouch's adorable bilingual picture book series. They are producing lots of bilingual books with different kinds of languages. As for the Japanese version, they published the second edition with a new translator since the original translation was not adequate, yet you could get the older version depending on the timing of your orders, so please make sure to check their returns and exchange (to the new edition) policies such as their periods for acceptance. The pure boy fox is charming!

This delightful little story tells of a young girl's time with her grandmother as she relates a legend of how a mischievous little white fox, with all his grand adventures, became the red fox we all know today. It is strictly for fun and has no hidden messages. How the Fox got His Color may well become an all-time children's classic and a perfect book for the young reader. English as a second language students will enjoy it as a valuable study tool, as well as those learning a foreign language. This book has been edited with new translation by a native speaker and republished at the request of one of my readers who found errors in the previous translation.

Pretty Good for Studying Japanese
2011年12月21日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済みAmazonで購入
I read this book after going through the Japanese reader series. It's a fun story and helpful for working on reading comprehension skills. The text shows the Japanese, the English translation and the Romanji. The English translation is the first block of text for each passage, but I would have preferred the Japanese to be first. This is because I want to test my Japanese comprehension skills, but I end up accidentally sneaking a peek at the English translation from time to time. But I suppose Japanese fluent readers trying to study English would be happy with the current arrangement. The book has cute illustrations that enliven the reading experience. I am going to purchase the other books in this series.

Unnatural Japanese - not a good learning resource
2012年8月21日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済みAmazonで購入
I bought a few of these before I read through one - big mistake. The story was relatively interesting, but the problem was that the Japanese written in this book sounds very unnatural. I've had experience with native Japanese media and the writing in this book is very stilted and doesn't flow at all. Also, some of the romanizations are incorrect - "soba" is romanized as "sobo", "shiro datta" as "shiroda~tsu" (???), "kon" where "ima" should be, "tai" where "karada" should be.
I had my review at 2 stars, but after taking a closer look at the errors in this book, I lowered it down to one. I don't know if this story was translated or at least looked at by a native speaker, but it looks like it was just run through an online translator and cleaned up slightly. I wish I knew this before I bought all the other stories by this author, but I hope this review will at least help someone else before they purchase sub-par resources in an effort to learn the language.
This is not a good book for those who are trying to learn Japanese. I would suggest looking for native material to study from, and not books translated by (seemingly) non-native speakers. Not recommended.

Great Book

I downloaded this book for my niece, who is in Japanese Language School. I thought it would help her with her studies and also be entertaining as well. She read the book, both the English and Japanese and was very impressed with the content. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to be exposed to the Japanese language.
