UK CD pressing of this mini album from the reunited Synthpop outfit. The title track is the third single to be lifted from their History Of Modern album. It's a powerful, pulsating, vibrant and contemporary song with a strong Pop sensibility. This release features eight versions of the title track plus four non album tracks.
There is some interesting remixes and if you are a die hard fan of OMD and want to collect everything they release then this is a good bonus to the album of the same name. The remixes are intersting and worth getting and together it makes a good concept. It is almost like an album. The running time and the price actually make it a very good release.
There are twelve tracks on the disc, the three different "History of Modern" tracks, five remixes of "History of Modern (part I)", including two which are released for the first time here, and four other tracks which have all been released as b-sides to the various singles released from the recent album. These b-sides are all quality tracks in their own right, although the weakest is probably their cover version of "VCR", originally written and recorded by the xx.
Possibly the remixes are not sufficiently different from each other to make this a logical listening choice - it would be a little repetitive, but they are all valid and entertaining versions of a track which would have done justice to the band at their peak.
A welcome opportunity to fill in the gaps in the collection, but probably one for the diehard fans only.
