Maroon 5 is back with its third studio album entitled Hands All Over, produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange (AC/DC, Foreigner, The Cars). The album, a killer hybrid of rock, pop, funk, and R&B, showcases the band's considerable strengths: buoyant, unforgettable melodies, sleek, stylish grooves, charged lyrics about turbulent relationships, and crisp, dynamic performances. Band member Jesse Carmichael comments on the new album, "Mutt really helped us play to the best of our ability. And it drove us to be bigger and better than ever. Everything he does is huge." Huge is a great way to describe Hands All Over, starting with the hard-rocking title track that is heavier than anything Maroon 5 has ever done. Says Valentine, "It doesn't sound like anything we've ever done." Another stylistic departure for the band is "Out of Goodbyes," a stunning country ballad that features musical and vocal contributions from Nashville chart-toppers Lady Antebellum. "We've always loved country music", Levine says, "and they brought that necessary twang to it with the lap steels, ambient guitar, and Hilary Scott's pretty voice. 前作から3年4ヶ月ぶりの3rd. 2010 プロデューサーに隠遁者ロバート“マット”ラング（AC/DC デフ・レパードシャナイア・トゥエインetc）を迎えたキャッチーなサビsound。楽曲の完成度が輝く運転中に最適♡ 1st.2nd.は刺激的で危険運転に及ぶ可能性があるので(笑)「①ミザリー」のグルーヴ・アダムVo.は相変わらず気持ちイイ！「惨めさ」は微塵も感じないけどw 歌詞は確かに女々しさ仔犬感が無くなりました「③You're just a fantasy girl 君みたいな子がいるなんて」と甘い声で畳み掛けられたら…女子はジャケ写の如くトロけるw(ズルい!) Importフルジャケの方がHです。〆曲にカントリーのレディ・アンテベラム参加12.に歌推しを感じる（渋い♡けど）私的には…ポップの権威と組まない方が粗削りなMaroon節band soundが炸裂するのでは⁉︎ アリシアのカヴァーも愉しいけど此のアレンジなら本家の歌唱が聴きたくなる。もちろん本編12曲はハイクオリティで夏に最高でしょうヾ(๑╹◡╹)ﾉ" 聴き易い♪
※「Moves Like Jagger feat. Christina Aguilera」は後発の+2新装盤です、ご注意（スペル by Mick Jagger) また prime MUSIC で聴けちゃいます！これからの方ズルいなぁ…(笑)

マルーン5大好きで、久々にアルバムを購入。
全体的にノリノリの曲。
マルーン5はお洒落&カッコいい曲が多くて大好きです。

個人的には10曲目が好きです。英語苦手なので意味はわからなかったのですが、この曲を聴いたときなんだか切ない気持ちになりました。和訳の歌詞を検索して内容を知って涙しました。

一番のお気に入りアルバムになりました。

いや、正直良く出来ているアルバムだと思います。
全体としては、MAROON 5のクオリティを下げることなく手堅いというか・・。

個人的にはやや物足りないと思っています。
#Misery, #Never gonna leave this bed, #Howは全体を通して聞いている時に、「おっ！」と思わせるMAROONらしいメロディーがありますが、他の曲は総じてビート重視なダンスミュージックな感を受けます。
なんか懐かしい感じ。
'80sのUKシーンでリズム＆ソウル的なブームがあったのですが、覚えている方は覚えていると思いますが、Curiosity killed the catとかJohnny hates jazzの雰囲気に近いような・・・。

確かにMAROON 5は1stの完成度がかなり高かったので、ファンが要求するハードルが高いのはかわいそうかなとは思いますが、アルバムの間でこれだけ時間を掛けて行き詰まりを感じさせるようでは、期待していたバンドだけにちょっと将来が不安です。

もっと荒削りでもいいので、アルバム間隔を詰めてチャレンジして欲しいですね。
でも、次作が出たらきっと買うだろうなぁ（笑

取り合えず、来春のライブに期待です！

自分はもともと音楽に興味なんてなくって、聞いていた曲は基本Infected mushroomやらそこら辺だった。
ある日maroon5の「Moves like jagger(スペルミスじゃないよ)」を聴き、すごく印象に残った。
思い出せるフレーズを入力して検索し、曲名を突き止める。
そんな事をさせるくらいのグループ、正直これまで出会ったことがない。
でも、それがMaroon5。

あ、CD自体はすごく良いよ。このクオリティなら1万円は出せるってくらい。

このレビューを書いている時点で、今までのカスタマーレビュー評価は、
★５つが１０人　で　★４つが１人　という極めて高い評価を得ています。
これを最高傑作と推している人も少なくありませんが、冷静に見てどうでしょう。

確かに 1st、2ndの名曲に匹敵する良い曲も何曲もあり、Maroonらしい路線を維持しつつ
また新しい試みも取り入れてチャレンジャブルな一面を見せていることもわかります。
とりあえず、Maroonファンの期待には十分応えてくれる楽しいアルバムに仕上っていることは
間違いありません。（以上★４つ）

が、冷静に考えて、アルバム全体として、音楽性という点で 1st、2ndを凌駕しているか
という点では疑問です。
中には「入れる必要があったの？」と思われる曲もあります。
ぜいぜい、1st、2nd並み。見方によっては全体として未満というアルバムです。

既に入っている評価が異常に高いのが、少し気になりました。
「そこまで凄くないでしょっ」とコメントしておきます。

I wrote this ahead of time since I listened to this on their myspace page on September 18th. Here's a track by track grading. I will TRY to make this short, but that doesn't always work.

1. Misery - 4.5 stars - Bouncy and chill, this song is catchy, mainstream and although there are better songs here, this makes for a great single.

2. Give A Little More - 4.5 stars - Definitely the catchiest and most upbeat track on the album.

3. Stutter - 4.5 stars - This is a fun mid-tempo.

4. Don't Know Nothing - 4.25 stars - I love this track. Slightly overproduced (what song isn't these days?) but I really love how he goes on with the lyrics in the chorus because it's addictive and it sounds like he keeps going and adding words. I guess you just have to hear it. The grooviest track thus far.

5. Never Gonna Leave This Bed - 5 stars - This one focuses on the guitars more and I like that. At first it was ok but this is one of the few perfect tracks on the album. Adam wrote the lyrics to this song alone.

6. I Can't Lie - 5 stars - Another relaxing track. Not quite quiet, but not energetic either. You'll probably end up loving this one too if you listen to the lyrics. They're great!

7. Hands All Over - 4.5 stars - The title track is also the heaviest track on the album. It has a lot of bass and some simple guitar riffs, the latter quality probably being the best part of the song.

8. How? - 5 stars - I really like the lyrics in this one. Another perfect track, Adam confesses in it that he doesn't know much about love but that he will die trying to find out the real meaning.

9. Get Back In My Life - 4 stars - This one is slightly odd and the way that he sings the verses, combined with the beat reminds me of Halloween. Another groovy one.

10. Just A Feeling - 4.25 stars - The verses are probably the album's strongest. But I'm not so sure about the repetitive chorus.

11. Runaway - 4.25 stars - Verses are quiet and dark here, but the chorus is upbeat and groovy with drums, maracas and a bit of guitar.

12. Out Of Goodbyes (Feat. Lady Antebellum) - 4.75 stars - The final track features the country pop female lead vocalist of Lady Antebellum. It's veeeery relaxing, has a country feel and is the most subdued, melancholy track here.

Adam Levine and the guys have kept us waiting FOREVERRR. This will make a solid addition to anyone's Maroon 5 collection. In a way, I wish there was a bit more variety in sound because it seems like every other track is upbeat but what are you gonna do?

All in all, a very decent CD.

4.4 stars or a 8.8/10 (not based off of an average).

Da ist es nun also, das dritte Album der amerikanischen Pop-Rock Gruppe, die bei mir seit Jahren immer wieder gerne rauf und runter gehört werden. Natürlich besitze ich die Vorgängeralben "Songs About Jane" und "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" und hatte viel Freude an Beiden. Spürte man schon eine Entwicklung auf dem zweiten Album, so wirken die Jungs nun auf "Hand All Over" noch reifer. Der Einfluss von Matt Flynn, der nach "Songs About Jane" als Drummer Ryan Dusick ersetzte, ist deutlich herauszuhören. Wo man auf dem Erstlingswerk doch hauptsächlich ruhigere Lieder findet, sind es hier mehr funkige Stücke ("Misery", "Hands All Over"), die sich allerdings auch mit ruhigeren ("Just A Feeling", "Never Gonna Leave This Bed") abwechseln. Zusammen mit Adam Levine's umwerfender Stimme, der wieder jedes Lied (unter Mitarbeit anderer) geschrieben hat, bildet sich für mich erneut ein unglaublich homogenes Gemisch, das einfach zu jeder Gemütslage zu passen scheint.

Nein, Maroon 5 haben sich sicherlich nicht neu erfunden, aber warum sollten sie auch? Genau das will ich von Maroon 5 hören! Funkige Stücke, die ins Tanzbein gehen, Refrains und Melodien die sich auf Wochen im Gehirn festsetzen, Songs, bei denen man sich einfach für ein paar Minuten der Melancholie hingeben kann. Nicht mehr und nicht weniger hab ich mir von "Hands All Over" erhofft.

Kein Song fällt komplett durch, was sehr erfreulich, aber heute leider sehr selten geworden ist. Ein Album komplett von der ersten bis zur letzten Sekunde genießen zu können, dass schätze ich unglaublich an dieser Band.
Die Beiden Akustikstücke zu "Misery" und "Never Gonna Leave This Bed" auf der Deluxe Edition sind absolut gelungen. Der einzige Mankopunkt, den man vielleicht den beiden letzten Alben zuschanzen kann. So etwas hat absolut gefällt. Die Melodien nach hinten gesetzt, Levines Stimme noch mehr hervorgehoben, klingen die Songs nochmal anders, was sie allerdings weniger genial macht. Selbst das Cover von Alicia Keys, die ich Privat überhaupt nicht höre, ist exzellent umgesetzt und würde Freddy Mercury noch leben, wäre er sicher nicht unangetan von der Version von "Crazy Little Thing Called Love".

Selten hab ich mich mehr gefreut eine Kritik über eine CD abgeben zu können, da ich zu 100 Prozent zufriedengestellt wurde. Jeder der Maroon 5 irgendwas abgewinnen kann, verpflichte ich sich das Album zuzulegen.

Anspieltipps für Unentschlossene: "Runaway", "Misery" "Stutter" und die anderen 15 Songs der Deluxe Edition!

There aren't very many modern bands that I really like--especially not enough to purchase all of their CDs--but I must admit, I am somewhat addicted to the unique voice of Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5. When I heard the first release from this new album, "Misery," I thought it was kind of catchy, but I had no plans to buy the CD. However, the song grew on me, and it wasn't long before I found myself placing an Amazon order.

HANDS ALL OVER definitely IS a catchy CD. "Misery" opens the album, but the three tracks which follow, "Give a Little More," "Stutter," and "Don't Know Nothing," all have a very similar, pop-like feel. This is fine; they are decent enough tunes. But they lack lack the soulfulness of ballad like "She Will Be Loved" or the edginess of "Harder to Breathe" (both tracks from the band's first album, Songs About Jane . Even their second album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long , retained a bit more of a rough sound (e.g., "Wake Up Call") interspersed with ballads such as "Goodnight Goodnight" and "Better That We Break."

And that's the main problem I have with HANDS ALL OVER--the lack of variety. Every song seems like another pure pop tune; the one track coming closest to a ballad is probably "Just a Feeling," which is still fairly up-tempo. Similarly, there are no singles that really stand out from the crowd, either, although the title track, "Hands All Over," does have a bit of a funkier sound. Also, the duet with Lady Antebellum, "Out of Goodbyes," is well-done, but nothing remarkable. Same goes for the bonus acoustic tracks--certainly nice enough, but they don't really make a huge impact. I do kind of like the final (non-bonus) track, "Curtain Call"; there's nothing really special about this song either, but it does highlight Levine's vocals, which is probably why I enjoy it.

In the end, I am happy with this album purchase, although I don't see any of the songs here becoming my new favorites. Recommended if you are already a fan of Maroon 5; if not, go out and get yourself Songs About Jane first.
