There's no better example of American pop culture's hall-of-mirrors ethos than producer Alan Carr's relentlessly buoyant 1978 film adaptation of the stage musical Grease. Inspired by that decade's rampant 50's nostalgia, it now paradoxically evokes the campy 70's excesses that spawned it. That sense of recycled decades in collision is underscored repeatedly on this deluxe, double-disc Grease-fest, especially on the set's second disc of bonus materials that spans vintage singles of the title track (its instrumental B-side) and "Greased Lightnin'," some sing-along karaoke tracks, and a handful of alternately slick/techo-savvy remixes (originally produced for the film's 20th anniversary) that are testament to its enduring, era-defying appeal. 一番の期待はSing-A-Long Version でした。これと通常バージョンを逆位相で使うと、ボーカルだけが取り出せるって目的です。
が、パッと聞いて判るほど音質が違っていました。Sing-A-Long Versionのほうが、低音がリッチで、ちょっと全体にはラウドな感じになっています。

Well here we are with a great piece of history. This album has not only captured the spirit of the movie but the essence of a 1970's version of the 1950's. I have seen this play live and yes some things are different. Yet I grew up on the movie. I even find myself singing some of the songs now and then. Of course you will never see me singing "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee." However I do keep this in my car as great driving music. This album is not you can pick apart and say things like missing songs, in the wrong order etc. It sounds and feels just right. There will be many versions yet this one is the [Original 1978 Motion Picture Soundtrack]

I remember having this CD as a child and playing it so many times that it eventually stopped working. I hoped I would find it again and I am glad I was able to find it and purchase it after Olivia Newton-John's passing, may our dear Sandy- and all the other Grease actors and actresses that have left us over the years- rest in peace. Not only does this version of the soundtrack still sound as great as I remember from childhood, I know that this time I will take good care of it because I want this CD to last as I am hopelessly devoted to it, no pun intended.
I highly recommend this and any other version of the Grease soundtrack to all the Grease fans and lovers of movie musicals/music. And remember to have some fun rocking and rolling to this timeless soundtrack because Grease is and always will be the word.

This edition has a second CD with instrumental versions, alternatives, sing a long, etc, that gives a bonus to a disk connected to a beautiful era.
the sound is excellent, which gives you a few extra points. Recommended for those who like soundtracks. This is already a classic.

I have loved Grease since I was little and I remember singing along with the characters. I bought the original soundtrack to the movie, but when I saw this special deluxe edition, I knew I had to buy it (I had already purchased the 25th anniversary DVD).

I loved the fact that the first disc included songs that were not in the movie such as "It's Raining On Prom Night" and "Freddy My Love." These were actually two of my favorite songs from the musical, so having them here makes this CD that much better.

I liked the Grease Megamix and the Dream Mix from the 2nd disc. In a strange way the megamix reminded me of the end of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Strange, I know but I was somehow reminded of that. Anyway, this is a great CD to add to your collection, especially if you've loved the movie either since it came out or since you first saw it on VHS. Grease is the word!

"Grease - Deluxe Edition" was released to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the film and features two CD's in a nice case and a booklet with all the lyrics.

Disc 1 is the same as the standard movie soundtrack Grease (Original 1978 Motion Picture Soundtrack) . It features original songs from the movie and good clean audio. What's not to love with that?!

Disc 2, the reason you're paying the extra bucks here, is a disappointment. I bought "Grease - Duluxe Edition" because I thought it would include more music from the movie that wasn't included on the original soundtrack. The bonus disc is a big let down.

The second disc features an instrumental version of "Grease" originally released as the "B side" of the "Grease" single.

There are four songs here touted as sing-a-long versions ("Summer Nights", "Hopelessly Devoted to You", "You're the One That I Want", and "Sandy".) This comes across as sort of a poor man's karaoke. The sing-a-long versions include the original music track and background vocals. I put the CD in my PC to see if they display the lyrics the way a real karaoke disc would - they don't. But, if you get stuck, there are always the lyrics in the booklet I suppose.

Also, included are the single version of "Greased Lightnin'", a 20-second "Rydell Fight Song", a four and a half minute instrumental called "Greased Up and Ready to Go".

There is a Megamix medley, a Dream Mix medley, and two songs are presented in a Martian Mix format. I found the mix versions kind of weird and unappealing.

If you can pick up a good used copy of "Grease - Deluxe Edition" for the same price as the standard soundtrack, go for it. Otherwise, unless you're a "Grease" fanatic or a completist collector, "Grease - Deluxe Edition" isn't worth the extra money.

Five stars for the original soundtrack performances, but a two star deduction for the disappointing Disc 2.
