In the same vein as "Monte Walsh"...Both the original with Lee Marvin and Jack Palance and the remake with Tom Selleck & Keith Carradine & "Ride The High Country", "Good Old Boys" excellently capture the turn of the 20th Century predicament that Old Time Cowboys faced, and leaves us all wishing that their day had not passed.
Folks often, either don't know or have forgotten that the days of the Original American Cowboys and Big Cattle Drives only lasted about 20 years. The coming of the Transcontinental Railroad "Put Paid" to that kind of Cowboy, but Ranches always need a Man, or even A woman who can fork a Horse, Ride Out and get the job done, whether it be Stringing or Mending Fence or working Cattle. The mode of transportation has changed largely form Horses to ATVs & other Mechanized options, however there will always be a place for a Cowboy on Horseback.
This movie is a largely accurate portrayal of the Life Changing events in the early part of the 20th Century and the problems as well as the benefits that accompanied those changes.
Great Ensemble Cast. Very well portrayal of the character involved. Well worth taking the time to watch this film.
