I stumbled on this bag while looking for a backpack for my ten-day trip to eastern Europe and Scandinavia. It looked perfect, but I couldn’t find any truly in-depth reviews on it.I love my Gregory “camping” backpack, so I took a chance on it and I’m so glad I did.
This bag is incredible. It’s the perfect hybrid between a day bag and a overnight backpackers bag (a size that's surprisingly hard to find). It’s big without being gigantic and fits everything I needed with space to spare. I loved the absence of a hip belt, I’m not climbing freaking mountains, I’m walking cobblestones… It also has a removable sternum trap which I stowed immediately.
The top pocket is pretty big and will fit an iPad, kindle, extra battery, passports, candy canes, etc with space to spare, so you don’t have to worry about accessibility. Which brings me to my favorite part about the bag. It’s not top loading. Hallelujah. If you’ve never had the joy of flinging shirts shoes and socks trying to find something at the bottom of your bag you’re lying. This bag has one giant zipper flap that rests on your back when it’s slung. It opens and packs like typical roller luggage, but gives you the option of packing it to the brim or going light and tightening the compression straps. It also has a laptop sleeve that stacks on top of the general access zipper. I thought this would make it uncomfortable but I honestly didn't even notice my Macbook Air.
The best bonus was that it was just the right size to carry on for smaller airlines with stricter size limitations like Wizz Air, Air Baltic, SAS, etc. Mind you I didn’t pack it to the brim, and you probably won’t either once you see how much space you have to play with.
My partner and I each got one of these for a trip to Seattle from the San Francisco Bay area. We each packed for 9 days with a plan to do some laundry once in the middle, we each took an extra pair of shoes, shaving kit, all our wires for computers and phones, a lot of fig bars and Cliff Bars and nuts, and a big pouch of herbal teas. Our plan was to travel up on the Amtrak, and take along our Brompton folding bikes. These components all worked together seamlessly and the trip was easy and fun. These Gregory backpacks are very nice looking, very high quality materials and workmanship, and hold a lot of stuff. The backpacks are very comfortable to wear and worked well as we rode our bikes from the train station to our rental cottage. We left them at the cottage, of course, and then went out on the bikes every day with their front bags to carry computers, books and so forth. We both heartily recommend these. Go have an adventure. We did put a reflective triangle on the back of each one and that worked well on the bikes. There is a sleeve on the back to slide your computer in a padded section and that worked very nicely. There are handles at the top and bottom of the pack that made moving it around easy. The back of the pack opens like a suitcase and makes loading and unloading a cinch.

Very pleased with this pack. Kids wore out prior purchases, so I decided to go for higher price and quality. These are larger than standard book bags with useful pocket layout. So far, they are very pleased with them.
