A great way to celebrate Flat Stanley's 50th anniversary—four favorite classic Flat Stanley paperbacks in a box set! This collection includes:
Stanley in Space
Stanley, Flat Again!
Stanley Lambchop is an ordinary boy. At least he was, until the night his bulletin board fell off the wall and flattened him. At only half an inch thick, Stanley can slide under doors, mail himself across the country in an envelope, and fly like a kite!
And that's only the start of Stanley's adventures. In these four stories, Stanley also becomes invisible and helps nab some bank robbers, journeys to outer space to rescue aliens, and, after being rounded out, turns flat—again! One thing is for sure: There's nothing Stanley Lambchop can't do!
Jeff Brown created the beloved character of Flat Stanley as a bedtime story for his sons. He has written other outrageous books about the Lambchop family, including Flat Stanley, Stanley and the Magic Lamp, Invisible Stanley, Stanley’s Christmas Adventure, Stanley in Space, and Stanley, Flat Again! You can learn more about Jeff Brown and Flat Stanley at www.flatstanleybooks.com.
This review is to let potential buyers know the contents of this collection, since at the time of my writing the product information does not state which books, or even how many books, are included.
This collection includes four books, and you can buy it for the price of just two of the books purchased separately. Here is what I received:
Flat Stanley (book #1)
Stanley in Space (book #3)
Invisible Stanley (book #4)
Stanley, Flat Again! (book #6)
Plus, the Flat Stanley Collection box, which holds all four books neatly inside.
I am docking one star because as you can see this set does not include the books in the chronological order in which they were written. The second book in the series, which is not included, is "Stanley and the Magic Lamp" and the subsequent books do make mention of Stanley's adventures in that book. (I don't miss not having book #5 "Stanley's Christmas Adventure" and don't recall it being mentioned in the other books.)
I again have young people in my life who need a project and reading material for school and Flat Stanley came to mind almost immediately. I had originally thought to only buy the first book in the series but after looking over all the options for purchase, this four book collection was a great deal. It comes in a nice case and each book is full of illustrations to help keep younger readers engaged. This is not a book series for beginner readers but for those who are strong readers in the last couple months of 1st grade or readers in 2nd/3rd grades these book are great not just to read but if you look on-line you can also have your kids get involved and do a project - making them a great option for home schooled kids as well as every elementary school system.
This Boxed Set was a great way to introduce a few Flat Stanley stories, but the box easily breaks down if all the books get taken out at once (which is great that your youngsters love the books that much they can't wait), which is the case for any boxed paperback set I suppose. The stories will be passed on then to the next generation of 5- 9 year olds or perhaps to the library. Share these stories!
