After No Fixed Address and Here & Now, which both had some good tracks but some filler too, it is with great delight that Nickelback have returned with a stonking album. Heavier and even with a bit of mild bit of prog-rock mixed in.
The song writing is a lot more mature than previous albums with the sleaze-inspired tracks taking a back seat.
My favourite song has to be Home which has some great and unexpected chord and vocal changes.
The Betrayal part III is pure epic starts off with prog-acoustic solo then becomes an agressive/heavy rock track
...more of that please for the next album

BANG!!

After the last outing, I'd pretty much written Nickelback and Chad Kroeger off as pop wannabe's ......so imagine my surprise when this little gem dropped onto my mat (having ordered way late and at a very low price....just in case it really was another dud!) Yep - back with a veritable bang...so does beg the question of what on earth they were playing at for the No Fixed Address album?
Kicking off with the title track, we are immediately immersed in the kind of rock that had me listening to the band in the first instance and this lays out the store until we hit the Song Of Fire, the first of several excellent Nickelback ballads...but really it's the sheer guts and power of For The River that announces the full credentials of the band...WOW and then some! IMHO the album price is worth it just for this track alone...how on earth a band that can come in with such material could also put their name to the dire mess of No Fixed Address I'll never, ever know...but thank your lucky stars that the band are truly back in the groove once more!
Yep, if you liked the early Nickelback catalogue....you'll love this, no question....Buy and play LOUD!!

Feed me this Rock Machine !

I was hoping for the guys to still let us have a slice of their crunching guitar riffs as best I know them for . I've seen them four times and was even lucky enough to meet them in person ....their live show is a killer and a must for any rock lover to experience at least once . After the disappointment of their last offering , in fact I didn't even bother to get a copy of it , and that's really hard to swallow since I am a huge fan of their's , May I proudly announce that NB are back to their rocking best with this album . The music is hard edged with the trademark melodys that make you grin with ear friendly satisfaction , and put your fists up in the air and Rock along to the riffing machine that is NB. This has to be one of their best, and all the tracks are great . Daniel's drumming is killer , Mike's pounding bass lines in compliment to this , Ryan's guitar and vocal backing is as sharp as ever , and Chad's singing and playing is out in full force too. Thank you NB for still believing in what you do best , and giving us the fans , the true music we love you for ,and since we were really hungry for more , you've given us your ultimate album to feed upon . KILLER STUFF !

Different heaviest Nickelback album so far.

This new nickel back album is good. It is a lot heavier than the last album. They have done away with the more poppy sound they had on the last album and gone for what can be at times a very heavy, Metal sound with the guitars some very good catchy guitar riffs in there. and some good singalong moments too. My issues are that production is done in such away that it kind of sounds like it isn't there which is a bit odd i know but it sounds very squashed together with not much clarity. That and quite a few of the lyrics are a bit benign. Other than that though the album is really good lots of variety and a fair attempt at doing something a little bit different for the band.

A welcome step back towards the rock world...

More highly polished 'rock for the radio' from Chad and Co, but much heavier and less ballad ridden than the last album. I was worried the band were becoming the next Linkin Park and pandering to a pop cash cow on their last offering, but this is definitely a step away from that. Good riffs, sing-a-long choruses and air punching moments are always expected, but thankfully this record sits closer to "Dark Horse" than "No Fixed Address". Worth a listen.
