I am not sure how Steven Wilson manages to surprise me with each new album he makes but yet again TFB does it . Whilst the album contains all of the SW hallmarks it manages to be very different than anything before. I ordered the record and the blu-ray. The 5.1 mix is excellent and offers a different experience than the record.
The album, to me is somehow reminiscent of the best albums of the eighties from Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush without sounding anything like them if that makes sense. It is intelligent art rock music that would be a number one album if it were released in the 80s, not that it sounds dated at all. Take a listen on a streaming service but please buy something of his work. This artist deserves to be way more popular in my opinion.

OK time to stop shouting from the rooftops
but it pisses me off when die hard stick in the muds just want to hear again & again the same earlier p-tree style hard riffs!
Evolution is in the SW psyche
I for one love this new fresh album
Love the little tip my hat sequencing to Tangerine Dream from there 70's heaydays
So to all those freaks who just want the same old p-tree / insurgentes era sonics
I say CHANGE OR DIE!

Well he's certainly gone in a different direction but its a very good album and the quality of production especially in Dolby Atmos is outstanding.As usual theres a couple of stand out tracks but the rest are by no means poor just different. I prefer his prog stuff but I can certainly listen to this offering and find much to enjoy,so fans of Steven Wilson don't be put off give it a go I'm glad I did.

Generell zur Musik habe ich schon was in der Rezension zur CD geschrieben.
Ist Geschmackssache und diesmal was anderes.
Hier geht es um die BD und da möchte ich auf die vielen Variationen zu sprechen kommen.
Neben einem Stereo-Mix liegen auch noch 3 verschiedene Surround-Mixes vor, wobei ich noch nicht die Zeit hatte, mich mit den womöglichen Unterschieden dazwischen auseinanderzusetzen.
Außerdem gibt es eine reine Instrumentalversion (mit Chor oder Backgroundgesang) ebenfalls in allen Abmischungsvarianten, dazu noch 3 Videos.
Während des Abspielvorgangs werden immer wieder philosophische Sprüche und "Angebote" aus dem "The Futere Bites-Shop" ein und ausgeblendet.
Die Aufmachung der BD als solches ist brillant und kaum zu toppen.
