SR Motor - Foredom's new 1/6 hp;ball bearing;hang-up style motor with speed from 500 to 18;000 rpm. This motor offers substantially more power than any of Foredom's older universal motors - 66% more than Series CC and 33% more than Series S and old SR motors. I can't stress how much better this thing is than the dremel. The first benefit was that rather than having to duty-cycle the tool and let it cool down, I was able to work continuous. The second benefit is that this tool provides torque at low RPM whereas the dremel does that. You don't always want your tool to be screaming along at tens of thousands of RPM. Sometimes it's more efficient to work at a slower speed with greater torque.
The biggest hassle of this thing though is needing to hang the motor somewhere. They do sell stands for it, and those would probably be a wise investment. I'm currently using a hook on the shelf above my workbench, but it's a little low and inconvenient.
They also sell a drill press that looks miles ahead of the flimsy crappy dremel drill press. I'm planning on getting one of those.
Only drawback is that it really requires creative placement... I didn't get the shop stand b/c that would just take up too much space, but if you can afford the space, get it.
