With a preface on the history of English fiddle play and an explanation of style and bowing techniques. The CD includes demos of all the tunes.
Cooper gives a few pages of introductory material, historical background and some notes of playing styles, which are in English, German, and French. After that, nothing but tunes. One thing that Cooper does that's interesting (in a good way, IMHO), is to have dotted slur lines to denote possible bowing patterns. Included is a CD with all of the tunes in the book for audio reference. It probably doesn't hurt that Cooper is conversant in Irish, Scottish, American, and Eastern European fiddle styles.
