Digitally remastered and expanded edition of the R&B outfit's 1978 album. Energy was quickly certified Gold making US Pop #13 & R&B #9 in the process. The album was preceded by their cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'Fire' which became their first Gold single. 'Fire' made #2 on the Hot 100 as well as hitting the #1 spot in the Netherlands, South Africa and New Zealand. Energy also features songs originally recorded by Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, Redbone and the Doobie Brothers and further enhanced the Pointers reputation of being one of the most versatile vocal acts the music industry has ever known.

曲に関してのレビューではありません、今回の商品は非常に残念でしかたありません、パッケージ表に１箇所・裏に２箇所大きなヒビが入っていました。
新品のはずでしょう！梱包の時点で判らなかったのでしょうか？
中身を取り出した時は驚きました、出荷時のチェックは厳しくして頂きたいものです、商品はそのままにしていますが、何とも残念です。

The Pointer Sisters "ENERGY" was released in 1978 and was a major breakthrough for the group. Sister Bonnie has recently departed for a solo career and the group signed on to Planet label and picked uber hot producer hit maker Richard Perry to produce their first effort for Planet. Perry, a production genius, steered the sisters towards a new sound. At a time when black artists were expected to do R&B music, the Pointer Sisters tool a bold risky step towards rock. The move paid off in a big way. Someone forgot to inform the Pointer Sisters that they could cover any genre and put their own distinctive stamp on it. The ladies are simply brilliant here and are at home with rock-n-roll. Their voices are better than ever. June kills it on rockers "LAY IT ON THE LINE", "ANGRY EYES", and "LOVE IS LIKE A ROLLING STONE", the latter being a B side to "FIRE", not previously available on CD. It is included here as a Bonus track. June also delivers a killer vocal on "HAPPINESS", which became an R&B, Pop and Disco hit. Anita also delivers the goods on the simmering "DIRTY WORK", "ECHOES OF LOVE", and the Bruce Springsteen penned classic "FIRE". "FIRE" reached #2 position on the Billboard Pop charts and was an across the board smash. When all three sisters harmonize perfectly on the now famous ROMEO AND JULIET SAMSON AND DELILA line, it just brings a chill down your spine. Ruth also delivers what is perhaps the sexiest and most raw vocal of her career on "COME AND GET YOUR LOVE" and further shines on "NOTHIN' BUT A HEARTACHE", a bonus track which was not previously available on CD. The very rare 12" Disco Version of "HAPPINESS" is the third bonus track on this excellent re-master.

As is the case with every BBR re-master, this is a treasure for collectors. Plus the music speaks for itself. The original album artwork is intact here, front and back and the liner notes by the always excellent Christian John Wilkane are informative and highly interesting. There are brand new interviews here with Ruth and Anita Pointer. And the sound is amazing as always. I highly recommend this CD.

THIS REVIEW IS OF THE 2012 BBR REMASTER VERSION OF "ENERGY", not the poorly issued version from Wounded Bird several years ago. Once again BBR has done an outstanding job. The sound quality is outstanding; the packaging, new liner notes, and original photos are excellent, especially the group photo with producer Richard Perry (whom I've always regarded as the 4th Pointer Sister, no disrespect to Bonnie intended). The sisters and Richard Perry were simply magical together. "Energy" is one of my favorite Pointer Sisters projects during their years with Richard Perry and what BBR has done with their remaster is to take a great project and make it even greater. Hats off to Wayne and the team at BBR.

A down and out rock n roll album from three black women....who'd have thought. This album was before they went in a pop direction. It's a shame they never got back to their RNR roots but their pop/high energy stuff is awesome and funn too. One of the best bands ever. Also, the far superior to Springsteen's Fire is included here too. The Pointer Sisters really make the song their own. June really shows out what the term "belting" means. LOL Great linear notes and awesome transfer from the original.

The entire catalog of the Pointer Sisters on Planet Records is available on CD for the first time and they have done a stellar job of mastering them for CD - including bonus tracks! I find it a little ironic that it took an overseas company to see the obvious artistic and (hopefully) commercial merit in releasing this quintessentially American group on CD - nevertheless I for one am very grateful someone has done it. Now, if only they would remaster and release the Pointer Sisters Blue Thumb catalog. Please, please, please!

After a disappointing first remastering (which didn't sound very REmastered at ALL,) Pointer fans rejoice! BBR (Big Break Records, U.K.) has completely remastered and reissued a once thought lost classic. Ruth, Anita and Baby Junie never sounded BETTER!

"Energy" is a a mixture of Gospel meets Rock and is completely life-altering and mindblowing! The lyrics are inspired, as are the vocals and the music; the perfect album to be stranded on a deserted island with hands DOWN!
