I suppose this book has a "generative" impact on the people who engage people to change in societies/organizations.
These days, everything is too complex to apply a traditional problem-solving approach to our change practices. Rather, leaders/managers need to challenge change processes adaptively, carefully engaging members with amplifying their engagement and inquiry. This book includes various practical tips for that.
From the practical viewpoint, for example, I do like the "Checklist" for the important topics attached at the end of every chapter (I am using the checklist whenever I engage in my change practices). And a case study shown in Chapter 5 is simply a great piece to understand whole the process of what the author calls generative change. The writing is not academic-oriented but can be easily understood the author has a deep and strong theoretical foundation on which the proposed practical applications heavily rely.
Practically useful, and scholarly sophisticated. Amazing contribution.

Good insights for consultants and managers alike2020年3月15日にドイツでレビュー済み
Gervase Bushe manages to convey the basics of generative change in a case study of medium complexity. I liked the shortness and clarity of the book. It demonstrates how generative change can be nurtured and facilitated and shows that it's simple but not easy. The experienced practitioner will (re-)discover key elements of dialogic organization development, organized into a pragmatic framework and illustrated in a realistic case study. The novice consultant will get a simple starting point into the topic and useful ideas where to dive deeper. And for managers this booklet provides important basics and impulses how to lead change in a way that acknowledges the complexity of adaptive challenges and at the same time engages the energy of the people who ultimately will create their organizational future.

Generative Change and Leadership as applicable to current Complexity and Crisis2020年4月20日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済み
As a long time OD consultant and student, I have found the work of Gervase Bushe and Bob Marshak in Dialogic Organizational Development to be the rejuvenating oxygen and stimulus so needed in the OD community of practice. This particular work by Gervase is a concise and digestible treatment of the many articles and works over recent years that dive deeply into this theory of Generative Change. This book distinguishes the alternative needs and applications of traditional and visionary leadership as compared to the need for a generative mindset in dealing with the complexity of the current time. Quite frankly this work couldn't be more timely for the crisis of complexity being faced in the world in the 2nd Quarter of 2020. The future of work is more complex than ever and will demand leaders who can thrive in adaptive instability and engage all stakeholders in this generative and innovative process. The case study in the book is a useful description of how the full process can unfold and evidences the leadership qualities that allow that awakening. This is the perfect "pocket guide" to generative awareness and preparatory action in the present moment.
