The line “I can still fondly remember the look of sadness that would blanket my dad’s face upon hearing his diagnosis” made me think, “WHAT??!!” I remember the look on my Mom’s face when she got her bad news, and ‘fondly’ is absolutely NOT how I’d describe the experience. We were shocked, and quite frankly blindsided. Yikes! However, that being said, there are good tips and advice to be had. For such a small book, it is overpriced.
This book is very well written. The author does a great job of sharing personal experiences while gently lending suggestions based on their learnings that are both insightful and relatable whether you are going through a similar experience or something completely different. I never felt like I was being told that their way was the best way, I just felt like I was having a conversation with someone that was offering good advice in a very supportive and gentle way.
Absolutely loved reading Jay's book; he is a remarkable young man. Having been a caregiver to family members most of my adult life, I certainly can connect and empathize with Jay's journey, shedding a few tears from my own memories.
5つ星のうち5.0A must read for anyone not just people in the caretaker role
This book will help you understand that you aren't going crazy for having the thoughts you do while undertaking the task of caring for a sick loved one. His genuine words show kindness and insight into such a dark place. Thanks Jay, you will, without a doubt change many lives with your words.
This book has filled a need that has been out there for many years. It provides guidance and support to people who are providing care and encouragement for loved ones battling cancer or another terminal illness. This is not a book to keep for yourself. Once you read it and internalize the message you need to pass it on. Every hospice and hospital should have it available to their patients' families. The personal experiences shared in this book are so easy to connect to the reader. I recommend this inspirational book to everyone because the messages can relate to so many life experiences. A good investment.
