The layout is just endless text. No rest, no enjoyment, no value. Honestly don’t bother.
On one hand it is a brilliant guide to training covering all aspects of performance and goes really into the science and theory making it easily a 5 star book and the best training source for serious racers.
On the other hand I actually find the previous edition the better for how to actually create and develope a trainingplan as it holds your hand more.
I think this edition of the training bible has evolved to cover the fact that there is a multitude of ways to train and in doing so fails to be as practical a guide as the previous edition and maybe gets caught up discussing theories without really laying it out there.
An example of this would be how it now describes and guides you through lots of different methods of periodization and the workouts are more up to date, however it fails to give an examples of real training plans and maybe suggested weeks of training for various phases.
Still a fantastic book just requires a lot more knowledge and theory than the previous book in my opinion.
