The DNA of business has changed. Forever. You can blame technology, smartphones, social media, online shopping and everything else, but nothingchanges this reality: we are in a moment of business purgatory.
So, what are you going to do about it?
Mitch Joel, one of the world's leading experts in new media, warns that the time has come to CTRL ALT DELETE. To reboot and to start re-building your business model. If you don't, Joel warns, not only will your company begin to slide backwards, but you may find yourself unemployable within five years.
That's a very strong warning, but in his new book, CTRL ALT DELETE, Joel explains the convergence of five key movements that have changed business forever. The movements have already taken place, but few businesses have acted on them. He outlines what you need to know to adapt right now. He also points to the seven triggers that will help you take advantage of these game-changing factors to keep you employable as this new world of business unfolds.
Along the way, Joel introduces his novel concept of "squiggle" which explains how you can learn to adapt your personal approach to your career, as new technology becomes the norm.
In short, this is not a book about "change management" but rather a book about "changing both you AND your business model."

Really great read

Am reading this book in 2020 and I like the fact that although it’s been 8 years since the book was written, the content is very direct in addressing issues we face head on today. This pandemic has shifted perspective and forced many to embrace what they otherwise would have been shoving aside. Av found every word written on the pages of this book invaluable advice for me as business owner and as an individual.
I definitely recommend it. Great read.

Mitch Joel is clearly a very perceptive person. This book is in effect a prediction of what life will be like in the next couple of years. By looking at the technological and social revolution that is and has been unfolding. The ubiquity of computing devices and the "always connected" internet is building a future where everyone is connected and can communicate with ease across industries, societies and cultures. He creates a pathway by suggesting a fairly simple mental shift in the way we view commerce, entertainment and markets that will equip those of us who follow to plan, get involved and build the future.

Mitch Joel will make you smarter

Joel is one of the premiere thinkers of the digital marketing space. He has a calm and downplayed nature but his thinking is second to none of the more outspoken/charlatan gurus.
Mitch Joel will make you smarter.

I am going to forgo any details on Ctrl-Alt-Delete as the others who posted before me (on Amazon.com) have completed that task more than well.
I will offer three observations, examples of the author's bona fides. Two are strictly personal ones and you can take them with the grain of salt they are due. The third one, a market one, speaks volumes as to why you should purchase this book.
1) There are only a small handful of prescients (my word not theirs) that I chose to follow: Clay Shirky, Seth Godin, and Mitch Joel top of that list.
2) When Mitch Joel is one of a group of guests on my favourite podcast, Bob Knorp's "The Beancast" (Knorp only invites bright individuals) he soars. His thoughts are very often the most insightful of that week's podcast group.
3) The list of those who allow themselves be interviewed on Mitch's own podcast is a veritable who's who of New Media thought leaders.
In finishing, let me call Ctrl Alt Delete a true "put it down and think book" I did so early and often and I hope you do so as well.
