Parisian pop trio Poney Poney (Antoine (guitar), Sam (drums) and Florent on bass), make guitar-driven dance rock with a distinctly new wave flavour. There are synths and drum machines and laser beams, but this is essentially a punk rock band produced by the most exciting name in dance today- Xavier from Justice. Influenced by Magnetic Fields, The Ronettes, Money Mark and Arcade Fire, the band met at college in early 2006, when Antoine fronted a one-man outfit, using his i-pod for drums & bass. When the i-pod was stolen, he drafted in the others for help, and it went from there.. After releasing a single 'Junior' on Arcade Mode last year, the band drop their debut EP on Perspex, Anu from Freeform Five's imprint, on the 10th March. Embracing the rock-electro sound of now, they plan to continue working with Xavier, as well as Sebastian and Mr. Oizo from Ed Banger, with an album on the cards too. Infectious songs, raw lyrics, feel this get under your skin - Poney Poney will do big things in 2008.
