When Love Comes (Diamond Creek, Alaska Novels Book 1) (English Edition) Kindle版
In this captivating love story set against the stark beauty of the Alaskan wilderness, Hannah Gray returns to her hometown after the death of her parents. Once wild and impulsive, she shut her heart off to love and adventure after her parents died. When she meets Luke Winters, their immediate attraction is overwhelming.
Burned once before, Luke has committed himself to nothing but casual dalliances with women. Rugged and smoldering, he finds no shortage of women happy to oblige. When Hannah comes along, he questions what he might be missing. Both fight the depth of their feelings—love is not part of the plan.
Hannah’s sense of identity is shaken when she unearths a surprising truth about her family. Meanwhile, Luke’s interfering family and complications from his past challenge Hannah and Luke to face their true feelings for each other.
Can two people who don’t believe love is worth the risk find the courage to face their fears and open their hearts?

I also found the reappearance of Luke’s ex totally predictable but not particularly well written. And as for his mother’s interference - no way would 3 grown men put up with that crap, no matter how much they loved her.
I nearly gave this just 1 star because I didn’t think I would actually finish it. But I did in the end but only by skipping over all the boring bits.
Won’t bother with this author again.
Like I said I love this author, love the burn series, and honestly everything else I've read of hers. Have got the rest of the series to read so hopefully the new characters will have more to do and say.
The setting was nice but was overly stated just how mountainous and beautiful it was. The narrative was overly detailed with what the characters were doing, thinking or feeling. The conversations seemed to be mass info dumps and came across as stilted.
Unfortunately I won’t be getting any more from this author.
It does touch on difficult subjects, but they are merely outlined to set the scene, so they don't pull the focus of the book in the wrong direction. Hannah and Luke have both been burnt and are wary, which leads to an entertaining dance between them, complete with misunderstandings, interfering families and friends, the gorgeous Jessie and soul searching by both of them, but never fear there is also plenty of fun, laughter, steamy sex and passion.
It's a free download, so you really should try it, I enjoyed it enough to buy the second in the series.
