Simon & Garfunkel recorded only five albums of studio material during their reign in the 1960s. Pop perfectionists, increasingly they sculpted records with extensive arrangements that made songs like "The Boxer," "The Dangling Conversation," and "America" more than mere pop songs, but compositions submerged in the delicacy of the art song. This collection is everything from those five albums, from the earnest early folk to the folk-rock that spawned their initial success ("The Sound of Silence") to the layered, methodical approach of their complex later work ("Bridge over Troubled Water"). つまり、別バージョンとかライブバージョンとかを除く全ての公式発表曲がこの１セットで聞け、ベスト盤で物足りなさを感じることもないのではと思います。
アルバム毎のジャケットワークなどを眺めて楽しむ事を望まなければ良いのではないでしょうか。

国内盤は両開きのプラケースタイプで、ジャケットと同デザインの貼箱（かぶせ蓋）に入ってます。ブックレット付き。（輸入盤は存じません）

Sound Of Silenceなどのアルバムを一つ一つ集めていくのは
とんでもなく大変なので、その点においてはこのアルバムは
すばらしい物で、持っていて絶対に損はしないと思う。
　ただ一つ残念なのは、デモ版や未発表テイクが入ってない
こと。極めたい人にとっては少々残念かもしれない。
　しかしいずれにしろ、買って損はない、とだんげんできる
アルバムに違いはない。

曲目をみれば分かるとおり、このアルバムにはS&Gが発表した全アルバムが収録されている。
つまりそれは全曲が収録されていると同じである。
初めてS&Gをキコウト思っている人は、１からそろえる必要もなく、これを買えば済む。
まさに完璧な一品といえるだろう。

１５年ぐらい前にサイモン＆ガーファンクルのｃollected worksを購入したんですが、いつの間にか手元から離れて仕舞い、いまだに行方不明です。ホントは新盤があるといいんですが、限定版のため、いい状態での中古品が見当たりません。このCDの中にアンジーって曲があるんですが、ポール.サイモンのギターソロが私の一番の曲です。ポール.サイモンは素晴らしいギターリストであり、作家としても名曲を、何曲も出していますが唯一アンジーは歌が入っていないにも拘わらずその旋律は私の中に刻まれています。サウンドオブサイレンスのギターバージョンもお勧め致します。

サイモン＆ガーファンクルのリリースされた全ての楽曲がこれに収まっています。　既にＳ＆Ｇのアルバムなどを所有している人もコンパクトにまとまった本パッケージはおすすめです。

もちろん、初めてＳ＆Ｇを聞く人にもこれを買っておけば全てを聞くことが出来るのでおすすめです。

ただし、もし日本語版が手に入るのであればそちらを買って下さい。

When you are told you are getting collected works, that should be what you get. I am an audiophile and I buy quite a few box sets. Most of the time Box Sets are not what they advertise. Not the case here,you get all their songs in decent sound quality (let's face it the music came from the 60's) but if you are a S&G fan as I am you will be pleased. Enough of that now on to the music. Paul Simon is a genius in that his music tells stories of the times in the way a gentle poet would describe them. Having the beautiful voice of Art Garfunkel narrating (sic) the music just makes it that much more breathtaking (what fortune to grow up with someone with that voice singing your songs) I have loved his songs since I first heard Sounds Of Silence when I was quite young. If you are a new listener, all the expected tracks are here like you would get on a greatest hits package but the Works gives you a chance to hear some of the buried treasure such as " Somewhere they can't find me, Patterns, A Poem On The Underground Wall, and Overs. How many artists can produce music so good you have Paul McCartney (Richard Cory) and Bob Dylan (The Boxer) cover them. To make it simple buy this,musically the best money you could ever spend....Randy Allen

Growing up during the sixtes meant listening to Simon & Garfunkel. This collection contains all one would want or need from them in their day. This collection presents it the way it was. No additions, no commentary, no filler of outtakes. This it seems to me is just the way this great body of music was meant to be remembered.
Hearing "I Am A Rock", "Hazy Shade of Winter" and of course, "The Dangling Conversation" reminds one of how plaintive the vocals were, and how only their hauntingly provocative lyrics could complement this pair of voices. What a shame that they could grow old and perhaps greater together.
Of course, "Seven O'Clock News/Silent Night" still puts chills up and down my spine in a way no other piece of music ever has since.
I owned a copy of this collection on vinyl. Somehow, between moves and relationships, it walked away, never to be replaced. It is so good to find it on disc. A must have.

The Collected Works of Simon & Garfunkel is a must for anyone who grew up in the 70s or who loves poetry, great music and great harmony. Paul Simon is a poet and a musical genius. Art Garfunkel has a haunting, never to be forgotten voice. This multiple CD collection is a must, both for big hits and their less well known music from their beginning. This is my second copy of this collection (my son appropriated the first one). Highly recommend.
