What is Bushido? What is Budo? How are the culture and traditions of samurai connected with the modern martial arts? Is the ancient wisdom of Japan's feudal warriors truly relevant in the twenty-first century? If so, how can it be accessed? This book addresses these questions, and is a must read not only for martial artists, but also for those who want to know more about the enigmatic Japanese mind and notions of self-identity.
Alexander Bennett is currently employed as a Professor at Kansai University's Division of International Affairs. It's factual, well written, based on very serious academic research...
Forget all other books, if you want to understand what Bushido means, that's the very first book you should read.
Despite its somewhat unfortunate cover, this book is bound to become a classic on many shelves around the world.
It's because it deals with Bushido and the values of the Bushi in a factual way and doesn't drift on to speculation like so many others do.
If this is the first book someone picks up on the subject, they may find that it may be the only one they need.
