1stシングルであり、アルバム・タイトル曲の「Breakaway」はポップ・チャートのトップを飾り、ロック志向の味付けはそちら方面には歓迎されなかったが、「Since U Been Gone」ではビートとギターの嵐にとけ込んで、こちらはシャウトするロッカー風の作品にしあがっている。この冒頭の2曲が、荒々しいアルバム全体のトーンを決定づけている。純情をかなぐり捨てた「Addicted」「Hear Me」がいい例だ。感情のこもった大きな声が時には高音の震える声にと変化する。「アメリカン・アイドル」で大勢の支持を得たあの声を、完全に捨てたわけではないのだ。「Where Is Your Heart」、そしてはっとするようなライヴの締めくくりにいい曲「Beautiful Disaster」では、あの高音が生き生きと流れている。幅を広げた賢いキャリア・アップとしての『Breakaway』ではあるが、ファンを第一に考えている作品だと示唆している。（Tammy La Gorce, Amazon.com）

マックス・マーティンやアヴリル・ラヴィーンなど、多才な製作陣と共に作り上げたセカンドアルバムです。
初代アメリカンアイドル優勝者としてプレッシャーのかかる二作目だったと思いますが、本人がやりたいロックサウンドを際立たせ、見事にロングセラーとなりました。
私はアルバムの中ではファンキーなロックナンバーの"Walk away"が一番好きです。
こちらはボーナストラックとミュージックビデオのDVDが付いた限定版で、ジャケットデザインも格好いいです。

発送も到着も意外に早く、期間の最初の日に来ました。
ディスクもジャケットも良好で安心して買い物が出来ました。

さて、音源ですが、素晴らしい歌声です。
楽曲もよく練られており、アレンジもミックスも申し分ないです！
到着し次第、直ぐにiTunesに入れてヘビロテ確定です。

「STRONGER」も購入したのですが、こっちはこっちで十分な良さがあります。
もちろん後発のアルバムの方が迫力はありますが、僕個人的には、
「Breakaway」も他に代え難い魅力があります。

このところの超お気に入り盤です。是非オススメ！

お！イイ曲やん！って軽い気持ちで買ってみたけど
これが　全曲すごい！いわゆる「名盤」ってやつですよ。
これまで　捨て曲無しのアルバムは個人的に

彼女は「アメリカンアイドル」の優勝者としてデビューした訳ですから、ずっと（今でも）アーティストというよりはアイドルという扱いだったと思います。「Before Your Love」と「A Moment Like This」は絶品だったのですが、それらを収録したファーストアルバムは歌わさせられている感があり、正直曲に恵まれないまま潰れてしまうのではないかと思っていました。が、この「Breakaway」ではKellyの良さが十分に引き出されている選曲だと思います。私は「Behind These Hazel Eyes」が一番彼女らしい歌だなって思います。次のアルバムでどれだけ成長しているか楽しみになる1枚です。

Having enjoyed her debut album, "Thankful", I was at a loss to understand why Kelly Clarkson wasn't a success in the UK. After all, she had a sound not dissimilar to early Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, who were both big stars. Even more than this, she won the first series of "American Idol" which, given how well acts like Girls Aloud have done, should have been a guarantee of decent sales. She even had a song on the "Love Actually" soundtrack, which didn't seem to improve sales the way it often does.

Sadly, thanks to the lack of interest, I had to wait for nearly eight months for this album. It was originally released in the US in December 2004, but a UK release was never confirmed. For months I would scour Clarkson's website and Amazon waiting for it to become available and unwilling to pay £16.99 for an import version, not having heard any of the songs in advance, as there were no UK singles releases at that point, either.

Finally, in June 2005, there was progress. A release date for early July, which would later be put back a week twice, was confirmed and a single, "Since U Been Gone" hit the music channels. It looked like my waiting was over and early signs were good. But after so long, I really hoped the album wasn't going to be a huge let down.

If this album doesn't break Kelly Clarkson in the UK, I don't see what more she can do. She's edged away from the big overblown pop ballads that won her "American Idol" a little, although there are still a few in attendance. There is again a wide variety of influences from the pop end of the music world, but all from acts who have been successful in the UK charts and with their sounds added to Kelly Clarkson's hugely impressive vocals, this should be a hit.

Simply put, this album is a must for anyone who likes modern pop music, particularly the kind of heavy pop sound that acts like Girls Aloud and Christina Aguilera have been performing. Kelly Clarkson may never match them in terms of sales, but musically and vocally she is easily their equal. This is basic pop music, wonderfully performed, with the odd heavy edge there. If Girls Aloud's "What Will the Neighbours Say" was the pop album of 2004, this is to be its successor.

If you're going to like this, or know someone who would, buy it now. Please! Hopefully it will sell well enough to make Kelly Clarkson a star in the UK as well as in the US and I won't have to wait seven months after the American release for my copy of her third album!

I have been a Kelly Clarkson fan, since I accidentially heard her sing "I Surrender" in AI season 1. I had thought that AI was a joke, but I thought if there are other people that sound like this girl..well, maybe I need to watch it. Alas, Kelly is definitely the best of the bunch. I did like her debut album, mainly because Kelly has an incredible tone quality to her voice and you want to hear it regardless of what she is singing. BUT, this album is INCREDIBLE. I thought I would enjoy this, but I found song after song, that I was seeing a whole new side of Kelly Clarkson. Maybe more of the real Kelly... I have to say I'm glad she went this direction with her 2nd album. She really proves she is an all around artist and she can sing any musical genre. I think we may see the masses really wake up to the real talent in this girl. I would be very surprised if this album doesn't have at least another 4 number #1 hits on it (Breakaway already hit #1 on all the charts). If you like: Avril Lavigne, Tori Amos and Evanescence this is your CD.

My favorites from the album so far are: Since U Been Gone (has a great hook and a bit of an '80s sound), Behind These Hazel Eyes (rich with meaning), Because of You (haunting and full of depth), Addicted (my favorite, feels a little like Tori Amos, but better), Walk Away (funky and retro, nice addition to the album) and Hear Me (Kelly's anthem). It also has a live version of Beautiful Disaster that shows how powerful she is singing live.

All in all- 10/10 probably my favorite album in the last couple of years. Get this CD, this will be the album that makes her more than the original AI winner. She has her own musical voice and wow, I have been waiting to hear a voice like this paired with songs like these for a really long time. A+

Kelly Clarkson really needs no great introduction. Having sold
millions of records worldwide,[This album alone 12 million plus]
she is a force to be admired. Mr.Bassman Randy Jackson, one of
the judges on American Idol knew this after Kelly auditioned,
with her voice only..no music![You can watch her audition on
You Tube]

She has a powerful voice that hypnotizies some folks. Kelly can
rock with the best, and slow it down for a ballad/romantic song.
The record Company RCA put their might behind her, along with Max
Martin the producer, and of course Clive Davis. Later it would be
Sony and Walt Disney that wanted a slice of the cake; but the early
work is much better. Like this CD?

Then came the similarities between Kelly and Avril Lavigne, also
on RCA/Arista. Well, Avril did co-write the title song for this
album along with "Since you been Gone." Therefore nothing seems
amiss with their musical relationship.

"Breakaway" features outstanding production, and loud musicians.
I would have replaced the drummer. His technical skills were not
really in vogue with Kelly and the rest. So...let's give Kelly
four stars based on her terrific abilities to get out of Texas
and sing her heart out.Kelly really did "Breakaway".

Think I might drive to Texas and see if I can find another Kelly
in a small town. Or is that simply duplication, or impossible?
