A fine Brahms and a magisterial New World
2017年4月14日 - (Amazon.com)
Erich Leinsdorf was one of the great conductors of the 20th Century: but largely forgotten (except by those in the know). There is a splendid Seraphim budget disc of Leinsdorf conducting Tchaikovsky's Pathetique Symphony and his first Piano Concerto, with the great (and equally neglected) pianist, Leonard Pennario as soloist. That is a magnificent disc. As is this: a fine performance of Brahms' wonderful F Major Symphony,. and one of the great interpretations of Dvorak's justly popular New World Symphony. The only fly in the ointment: there's no exposition repeat in the Dvorak; but it is still my go-to recording for when I listen to the New World for pleasure. Nicely remastered. And also budget-priced. Highly recommended.
