Worth taking on holiday with you. Gambia can be a strange place to visit if you've never been there before. This book can help with deciding where to go.
Watch out for those bumsters though.

although the book was published in 2001, the general information on the country is good. Places such as restuarant and hotel change their name every now and then but it really gives a fair view on the country.pre warned is pre armed although I found the people extremely welcome as for the bumsters will I would call them more opportunists then any thing else. People are people, when you think of the conditions that they live in , dont be too quick to judge as they have great pride in their country and will show you as much as possible(of course at a price but so will your tour operators). Read, travel and juge for yourself.

A most useful, informative guide and to my mind indispensable. It is very well balanced not overburdening the reader with too much information but on the other hand not omitting the most vital. It is, however, probably in need of an update with its restaurant information.
