From Behind the Machine (English Edition) Kindle版
From Behind the Machine is a bitter and beautiful love story told across intrepid travels to unknown places with unknown people. The aroma of Addis Ababa, the heat of Bangkok and the cold crispness of the Himalayas creep off the page as the novel and its characters swirl around the protagonist like a well-made macchiato. It is timeless, painful, compassionate, and, above all, it is a reminder of how we should all be living and loving - with honesty, bravery, curiosity ... and a good, strong coffee.
Beale Stainton was born in 1984 in Gisborne, New Zealand. His ancestry is the story of early New Zealand itself, a blend of pioneering European sheep farmers and whalers, coupled with highly esteemed Maori women and their closely knit families. A deep fascination with the world beyond rural/small town New Zealand began at a young age. He describes his first love as "an Atlas and a set of Britannica Encyclopaedias, proudly displayed in the family lounge." His tribal affiliations are Te Whanau o Tuwhakairiora of Hicks Bay and Ngati Pahauwera of Mohaka. He lives in Australia and calls Coogee Beach home. From Behind the Machine is his first published novel.
