リマスター前のCDを持っているが少し音圧(音量)が低く、感動的なラスト曲のあとに日本盤のボーナストラックが流れオリジナルアルバムの良さを壊していた。
今回のCDは音圧もちょうどよく、おまけに紙ジャケットで私がコレクションしているCDアルバムの名盤の一つに加わりました。

３７年前、給料取りになった僕はポールの新譜はもちろん過去のＬＰも買いあさった。
「バンド・オン・ザ・ラン」もその内の１枚で、レコード盤本体にジェームズ・コバーンなどの写真が印刷された「ピクチャーレコード」だった。
現在の価値はともかく、僕にとっては宝物です。
バンドーは2部構成の曲で、のちにビーナス&マースでもありました。
今聴くと「ホロ苦く、甘ったるい青春の日々」を思い出して、感傷に浸っちゃうんだよな～。

It goes without saying that Paul McCartney knows how to write a great song. But when he has to make an album's worth, he becomes the king of filler. I am a lifelong fan of Paul, but I am constantly having to make excuses for him. Band on the Run is Paul's best non-Beatles album, but it could have been better with just a little extra effort. The title song is a great opening track. I never get tired of listening to it. Next up is Jet which is Paul's best rocker. At this point I am ready to declare the album a masterpiece, but then he gives us Bluebird, which is lyrically weak and musically light-weight, a reoccurring theme that he has embraced with abundance in subsequent albums, such as London Town. Then he gives us Mrs. Vanderbilt, which reminds me of the Uncle Albert song from Ram in that it feels like three separate half-baked tunes thrown together. But hey, the song has a great vibe and I love it. Seriously, I can listen to it all day long, even if lyrically, it makes no sense. And, why does he switch to Mrs. Washington? At this point, I suddenly realize that my version of the CD is missing Helen Wheels. The album needs Helen Wheels. Although his vocal performance on it is sub-par, the song rocks. Give me Helen Wheels, throw in Junior's Farm, and dump the filler and this album would be a 5 star. Do fans really like Let Me Roll It? I don't. It is tedious, but Paul loves to play it live. The next two songs, Mamunia and No Words, are filler. Ditch these two and save them as bonus tracks for a reissue. Then there's the Drink to Me song, which correctly feels like a drinking song. I have to be in the mood for it and the end where it reprises Jet and Mrs. Vanderbilt does not feel right- it's forced. The final track 1985 has its moments, but lyrically it is insipid. My point is made, this album features Paul at it his best, but it runs out of steam and leaves me frustrated.

La page Beatles tournée, le prolifique MacCartney tente l'aventure d'un nouveau groupe avec notament son épouse Linda et Denis Laine des Moody blues!
La production musicale des "seventies" est à son apogée ; et cet album reste gravé dans l'histoire du Rock par la diversité de ses morceaux, la beauté de ses mélodies le talent de ses interprètes et de ses musiciens.
A avoir absolument dans sa "discothèque" !

Generally, this album is regarded as Paul McCartney's finest 45 minutes and it has to be said that he never really came close to matching this inspired collection. The fun begins with the double salvo of hits 'Band On the Run' and 'Jet' - still great tracks after all these years (all 40+ of them, folks!). The general standard of the rest of the album is very good with the short but utterly fabulous 'No Words' standing out for me as a Macca classic. 'Mrs Vandebilt' bounces along with lyrical gusto, 'Bluebird' is a lovely gentle track whilst 'Picasso's Last Words' is a lovely piece of whimsy. The last track 'Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five' fairly thunders along and is a fitting close to proceedings. 'Let Me Roll It', which is a response to Lennon's vitriolic attack on Paul (in the shape of 'How Do You Sleep'), is solid but not a particular favourite of mine whilst 'Mamunia' is sweet but rather lightweight. Superb collection and well worth buying if you haven't heard it.

Cet album n'est plus a presenter pour son contenu ,il figure parmi les classiques de mc cartney en solo et considere comme le meilleur wings en studio,mais ce qui nous interresse plus particulierement sur ce pressage, c'est l'edition remasterisee par l'equipe d'abbey road qui nous a avait deja livree un travail exemplaire sur l'oeuvre des beatles en 2009,voici donc encore une belle reussite qui permet de redecouvrir cette cuvee 73 de sir paul enregistree aux studios d"emi a lagos le disque sonne dans l'ensemble plus clair, aere et equilbre (surtout au niveau des harmonies vocales de l'ensemble et des guitares qui sonnent plus presentes sur certains morceaux) malgre qu'il souffre tout de meme d'une production plus datee que son petit frere "ram" (non signe wings; mais paul et linda mc cartney)voila donc grace a la technologie actuelle on a la chance de prendre du plaisir et de redecouvrir des albums que l'on connait par coeur (on parle de la forme) mais au final le "fond" reste tout de meme le plus important.pascal49
