Sheperd Paine, a giant in the modeling community, passed away in 2015. At the time, he was completing work on this book. He did not plan to include any of his own work in the Armor Modelers Guide, but instead feature projects by these talented, inspiring modelers: Greg Cihlar Andy Gulden John Maher John Rosengrant Dan Tisoncik Roy Wells
Howard Sheperd Paine, an artist, author, military historian and collector of military artifacts, elevated modeling to an art form and for six decades worked to spread the popularity of art miniatures around the world.
Mr. Paine's untimely passing left a huge void in the scale modelling scene as well as a lasting legacy that will live on as long as the scale modelinh hobby exists.
That being said, I think the book's title is rather misleading since Mr. Paine passed away in 2015. I was expecting to find some previously unpublished material, instead the first half of the book is a reprint of the chapters contained in his two books. The next part is a collection of projects, some really impressive, by several profesional modelers, who were in their own way inspired by Mr. Paine.
So, is this a new book by Shep Paine? Not really, it is more a compilation of his early works, edited with some new pics and several articles with basic and advanced techniques, as well as some amazing dioramas by modelers like John Rosengrant.
Yet this is a nice reminder of the Shep Paine's art and a great showcase of scale modeling projects.
