This book gave me some hope as a new nurse! I went from stable, medically cleared patients on a mental health unit to stable and unstable patients on a medical unit. So many things Sonja speaks about I have already experienced! Knowing I'm not alone was reassuring! Sonja speaks of the good, the bad, and the ugly! I laughed my way through this book!
I've been a nurse for 2.5 years and I absolutely loved this book. It was hilariously accurate but also well written and insightful. I highly recommend it for new nurses but also the well-seasoned nurse!
As a newbie nurse I've continually struggled with anxiety and fear of messing up while on the job. Therefore I ferociously lap up any advice, nursing stories and tips from any nursing source. This book was a God-send and spoke directly to my experience as a nurse that can honestly be only done by a nurse that's been there! Sonja's humor and honesty both made me laugh, smile knowingly and even cry tears of relief as she adequately described how I feel everyday on and off the job. I definitely recommend this book to both newbie and experienced nurses and look forward to any new material that Sonja dishes out in the future!
This was by far the best book I've read so far regarding newbie nursing as well as nursing school lacks. I'm a nursing student who has to remediate a course in the Fall and was really beginning to question whether I wanted to continue or not. While of course doing everytging necessary to continue on with the University, this book completely reinforced my decision to continue on my path. Thank you so very much Sonja.
5つ星のうち5.0My girlfriend loved me for buying her this book!
Bought this book for my girlfriend who is an ICU Nurse and told me she worked with the author a few years back. She was thrilled and devoured the book in about two days. I'll be reading it next but she said that Sonja totally nailed it in describing nurse life. Congrats!
This book was outlined to make me believe it was going to hit on mistakes in nursing practice that could kill a patient, not the author's introspective journey into nursing, complete with multiple spelling and grammatical errors. HIPPA.... Seriously??
Author has set herself up as an authority to “baby nurses” when she is STILL a baby nurse. Title implies that the book will be about fun & interesting “Oh sh•t!” moment—there were a few brief stories mentioned. Other than that,a total waste of my time & money. Such a great title. Such a terrible book!!
As a yearling, this was just what I needed to pluck me from my slump. All the thoughts I've tumbled in my head we're expressed clearly and concisely; I'm allowed these feels. I bought the Kindle version, but I'm buying a hardcopy right now.
Sonja will make you feel understood, perhaps for the first time in your new nurse life. Although the writing verges on saccharine at times when waxing on about the highs and lows of nursing life, you might need a bit of that. It's soothing to the baby nurse soul. Overall a fun read to emotionally get you though your residency.
