Unlike those other members of her family, Janet Jackson's albums are still worth waiting for. The best parts of All for You, her first disc since 1997's The Velvet Rope, continue to display the first-class pop-R&B talent who broke through decisively in the mid-'80s with "What Have You Done for Me Lately" and "Nasty." Jackson's longtime cohorts Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are of course on board, and the production-writing trio demonstrates its mastery of everything from dirty funk ("You Ain't Right") to peppy, radio-perfect ("Come on Get Up" and 2000's No. 1 "Doesn't Really Matter") and hypnotically undulating sounds ("When We Oooo"). While much of All for You is irresistible, its handful of failures are poorly conceived and executed. Most glaring among these is "Son of a Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)," an unlistenable sequel to Rope's "Got 'Til It's Gone" that substitutes one self-regarding singer-songwriter diva (Carly Simon) for another (Joni Mitchell), thereby wrecking Simon's one golden moment, "You're So Vain." "Son of a Gun" and "Truth" apparently target estranged husband Rene Elizondo, but Jackson is hardly as convincing a revenge artist as she is a sex kitten. In fact, the likes of "Love Scene (Ooh Baby)" and "Would You Mind" out-spice even the carnally obsessed Velvet Rope and Janet. --Rickey Wright

Someone to Call My Lover
All fo you

Staring with the Intro: Giving a quick thought as to what she and her Choreographer are discussing, as funny as it may be, you never suspect that they are talking about what they are talking about. (Something Good or Bad...Or Is it Both?) (Gulps. - - Chuckle.)
The Album's First Single: 'All For You' (Self titled after the Album...) (Janet Bursts on the scene for the New Millennium with a Contagious and infectious Dance Joint.) Great Concept and Magnificent Composure. Being free of no Holds Bars and fresh from a Divorce, living in a Idealistic mode for Lover's perfection - -Janet displays a Rough, yet incontestable image to let fans know she is still the same Janet that you knew back in 1993. lighting the Video set with a Great Personality sexy Looks and a Beautiful Image. (As the Director John Singleton said in his film for 1993's "Poetic Justice" - - "Look At That Smile...She could smile and the whole room Lights Up..") and it seems Ms. Damita Jo' has done that with this Popular dance - Club Single. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis go right to work in the Studio to fake No Jacks and keep Janet's Name in the running to always be known as "The Queen Of Pop". And this song proves it. VERY MUCH SO.
I Could Go on for years about how great this album was, but the word "WAS" is taken out of context. its a MAJORLY indulged classic letting the world know that the real Music has taken a Backseat to the repetitive Dubstep and Janet wanna-be's and Imitators that are pressing to be her. its obvious that we Miss her, we just won't show the appreciation when the Time Comes. as we all know, she is believed to be retiring this year from The Music/ Entertainment Industry to focus on her New Life and Marriage. but we'll always find some way to counteract those thoughts of disappointments and anguish by throwing track #9 on and becoming deep in-Trance by her Lush Vocals and Very strong Moans and convincing thought of EXTREME Pleasure. I Cannot explain that between the times of Loneliness I've had; All I Had to do was throw on that song and experience a Natural High. Its Hard to explain, but I understand how it effects Minds. Her Voice is so serene and Comforting. (One of the Sexiest Voices in Musical History.)
Moving straight to the Classic: "Doesn't Really Matter"...Using a very intricate and Developed sense of Musical ability, Janet expresses a Fond and strong Love to assure her Lover is always in her Heart No Matter what. I Admit i felt like that all the time because I used to be a Big Guy and I never had anyone to say to Me, You're so special to me and I'll always Love you no Matter what we go through, My Parents and friends can say what they want; I Don't care. I love you because you Love Me. No one talks like that anymore. we're afraid to express how we should really act towards the right person. Its evident in this song it makes a Broad statement; but then again, things were VERY different back then as opposed to Now. (The Jimmy Jam & terry Lewis Radio Version was Hit on the radio for a Circulation of almost a year in my hometown. knowing that Janet was here to stay. 2001 was a VERY Beautiful year for Ms. Jackson. the Rockwilder Mix was Bumping as the original, but The Jam & Lewis Version had more Airplay. More of the Expectancy of the Timbaland-ish back/ forward rhythm and flips with the extra twists and turns and the Musical Composition beats out the Music of Today. Knowing that No one depends on the Music anymore to back up the words. (The Single is the Lead for the Film by Eddie Murphy based on a Classic Comic Character: 'Professor Sherman Klump' - "The Nutty Professor II".) The Love interest between Janet's Character (Prof. Denise Gaines brings a Feeling of Joy and Blushing thoughts to my face. Loved her in that film. had the biggest crush on her then and nothing has Changed.) Today's Generation is not interested in things such as this. I'm Living in the Wrong Time. Growing up was the Best time. My Generation had all of the Best Music from "Janet." (1993-1995), "Design Of A Decade" (1995-1996) to "The Velvet Rope" (1997-1999))
Overall there are #1's on this CD; but It did not click with Most people as It did for me. I'm a Music Producer myself and spanning my ears to different types of Music, this CD was and will always be a Winner. No matter the fact of Supremacy in Music; Janet always puts on a Show, Vocally, Musically, Socially and of course Sexually. being Comfortable in your own skin and loving yourself that much to open up about your divorce (from Rene' Elizondo...) makes you a very independent and Cougar-Like Female. but as Janet is the Mother Cougar, every other Young female artist/s are Kittens compared to Janet's track record. never failing, but never Over-reaching in Music boundaries; Living up to the Age-Old Description of the Woman in charge: Better to be in a World where no one understands you, than being Understood in a World where Understanding that No one will EVER know you again.
30 Years and beyond, Ms. Janet Damita Jo' Jackson is the Woman in charge; Many Men will want to have the chance to have her ask you: "Would You Mind?...." but none will ever be able to. Striking fear & Sexual excitement in the Hearts of Men such as myself and others, but giving the Love that an Artist should have towards their fans. No one appreciates Music the way that she Laid out in the forms that she did. If she wants to be Fun and have a Good time ("Get On Up"), Profess her fantasies of Love in a Dream-state ("China Love") or if she states the preparedness to Love making ("Love Scene" (Ooh, Baby)), Or striking independence from A Non-existent relationship - - "Son Of A Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You)" and the Sexual Eruption of a Woman in Pleasurable Heat ("Would You Mind") (<----- One of Best Love Making Songs ever since the Single "Any Time, Any Place" (1993)/ or in my Opinion: "Someday Is Tonight" (1989) <--- Fell in Love after that.))
This CD is a Rare find for Collectors and Nostalgia Producers who need some release and Ideas for some Fresh discoveries to create New Tracks. and of course the fans who Love and have Fell IN Love with the incomprehensible, the Invaluable and unfathomable Janet Jackson. (I have been since I was 7 Years Old! I still Blush when Her Videos Come on TV or if she's in a Film or If she does an interview. most down-to-earth person in the world. Just like her Brother Michael Whom we Miss So Much.) (RIP.)
Please, by all means, buy this CD. Very Useful in the "Janet" collection of CD's you wish to collect. having it will be a grand find. a Very CLASSIC and introverted reminder of how good the Late 90's/ early 2000's have been to Us and Janet herself. Thanks for reading, God Bless and Peace and Love...

Con questo album, devo dire gradevole, Janet cavalca l'onda del mainstream del tempo. Io l'ho acquistato per la raccolta video e per quella chicca che è "Someone to call my lover".
There's a reason why this album went five-times Platinum worldwide, and that's because of the mixture of relatable and of course dance worthy songs on it. The album didn't beat you over the head with sugary-sweet or sure shot pop singles. No, this album actually had quite a bit of songs on it that had depth and were relatable to her HUGE fan base.
One of the best songs on this album was Truth, a song that was way down the track list at 14. That song was about Janet's checking her second ex-husband Rene Elizondo on the way he treated her emotionally and mentally. A lot of people don't know about that song, but it was well put together and relatable to people who have been through what she and Elizondo went through near the end of their marriage.
This album had five hit singles on it, but one would be foolish to just pay attention to those five singles. There's some underrated gems on this album besides Truth such as the sensuous When We Oooo (track 6); the inspirational Better Days (track 18); a therapeutic song on moving on from bad relationships in Trust a Try (track 11); the sexy and adult-themed Would You Mind (track 9); and more.
In conclusion, the All for You album works on two fronts: as an adult-themed, all grown-up Janet Jackson album and as a pop music album. Either way, you're going to get your money's worth when you buy the album. I know I did.
