I could be wrong but I know there was a political statement to this story. However, after 3 readings I couldn’t really pinpoint it. The surrealism in this story is very thick and to be honest, I couldn’t get it all or apply my imagination to form some realistic imagery of it. For me, that was something of a distraction. The basic academics of good story writing; strong, well drawn characters, real to the eye and mind and all true to themselves throughout the story, a steadily moving situation (plot, arc,?) that easily kept my interest, were in my opinion all present in spades. Finally, the way the author treated the eroticism in the story, was I thought a stroke of genius. It was in most parts so effectively understated, that the by-product of that was to make it more powerful thus more enjoyable. All this rescued the story because I would have given it 1 star as to the basics of writing; poor grammar, spelling and punctuation. It definitely needed a proof-read!
