Even though this film is geared to young teenagers, it can appeal to anyone of any age and also make for enjoyable family viewing. Led by upcoming teen star Sam Ashe Arnold (An Elephant's Journey, My Mother's Killer Boyfriend, and also see IMDb), a trio of friends seek to find the "wishing box" - an antique from time immemorial that grants three wishes to the individual who writes each separate wish on a sheet of paper and then drops it into the box. The person depositing the wish must be pure of heart in order for it to work. Sam, the leader, has been inspired by his late grandfather who was a kind of "collector-archaeologist". It was the latter who acquired the box and secreted it away lest the wrong people should get their hands on it and wish for something that could prove malevolent. Unbeknownst to our youthful adventurers they are being observed and followed by exactly that kind of person (well played by Billy Zane) who wants the wish box for himself.
How the trio finally find the box and what happens afterwards comprises the major plot line of this movie. There are a couple of other subplots, but NO SPOILERS here. This is a fun film, well acted by all for its intended audience, and enough twists and turns to raise it above the ordinary. A highly recommended film for any age.
