The theme of this story is universal--to become better than you are and to find joy in what you do.
The style of writing is fast paced, the historical settings are accurate and the characters are truly believable--- I cared about Anna and didn't want her found out.
Though this book is aimed at a young market, as a former tree climbing girl, I found the story charming.
This Indie author can write and has a great future ahead of her.
Anna is "every-girl!" She is a tom-boy who is frustrated by her parent's expectations and the restrictions of the times on all girls. She is expected to behave like a young lady, to practice her reading, music and needlework, so she can make a debut and find a husband. She wants to see the world.
With a little help from her friends she transforms herself into Albert, the stableboy
and sets off on her once in a lifetime adventure--but only till Christmas!
Albert is an accomplished horseman with a penchant for intrigue and he manages to become entangled in a kidnapping. His role--to save the damsel in distress! But Anna could be the one in distress is she is found out.
Albert manages to travel quite a long way, finds a job, a mentor, makes friends and enemies, has the time of his/her life and in the process grows up a little bit.
I think Anna will continue her adventures and eventually find romance---just as her parents wish.
