セガのメガドライブ時代からこのゲームのファンなので買いました。
メインキャラであるアクセルとブレイズは変わらず不動の主役キャラなのも嬉しい。
シリーズを新たにする度にゲーム自体の難易度も上がり、今作品はかなりやり込み要素が強いと感じます。

低評価が多くて悲しくなったので高評価側のレビュアーとして書き込みにきました。旧作は２のみプレイ済み。

【良かった点】
・絵柄が好みならステージを歩くだけでもきっと楽しいと思います。キャラ・背景共に手書き感のあるアメコミ風だけど、どこか日本人好みにも寄せてくれてるような。ギャラリーモードも見ていて楽しかった。特にブレイズ姐さん、カッコイイ…！

・制作陣の旧ベアナックルへの愛情を感じます。アクセルの「グランドアッパー！」をあえて流暢な英語で言わせず、日本語っぽく言わせてるとことか。敵の姿や動きを完全再現してるところとか。丁寧なリスペクト、けれどオリジナリティもあって、ちゃんと新鮮でちゃんとベアナックルだと思いました。

・音楽(Olivier Deriviere氏メイン)は賛否両論でしょうが、私はこだわりを感じて好きです。進行に合わせて曲が盛りあがったり。ゲーム中パッとしなかったという人は、サントラでじっくり聞き直すとスルメ曲が多いことに気付かされる…という人が多いと信じたい。ちなみにボス戦はゲストの作曲家に作らせたもので、作曲者が変わることで場の空気が変わった感じを演出していていいなぁと思いました。そして古代さんの曲はやっぱりいいなあ！ と再確認できるのもいいです（Ms.Y戦の曲がカッコいい…！出だしは古代曲からスタートしてるのも敬意を感じます。）昔にこだわる人はレトロサウンドに切り替えることもできますよ。

・自分はアクション上手くはないですが、ノーマルで1Pプレイ、ギリギリ最後までクリアできる感じです。死んだりなんとか行けたりの繰り返し＝ギリギリが一番楽しめるのでここも私は満足。イージーとの違いは残機の違いだけかな？って印象で、敵のウザさは変わらない気がして難しめな感じがします。やり込み要素として旧キャラのアンロックがポイント制（スコアがポイントになってそれが貯蓄されてく）なのですが、下手な人でも何度もプレイすればポイントは溜まっていくので最終的には誰でも全キャラアンロックできるのは良いなと思いました。操作に関しては旧作に基づいてるので難しくはありません。攻撃するタイミングさえ見極めれば誰でも爽快感のある技を繰り出せます。イライラするという人は一度じっくり敵の動きを観察しましょう。よくみるといい意味でワンパターンで、ちゃんと全員スキはあります。逆に物足りないという人はマニアモードで世界記録目指しゃいいんです！

【惜しかった点】
・まず「スペシャルエディション」、これがスペシャルというにはいかんせん物足りない…！ CDは皆さんが書かれているとおり安っぽくカードもないため、何の曲が入ってるのかわからない。ポスターはジャケットと完全に同じ絵が大きくなっただけで特別感はなく、裏面のコマンド一覧もみんな出し方は同じなのでそんな有り難みもなく、箱そのものはメガドラと同じ大きさにしたこと以外は別にカッコイイとかこだわりがあるとかもなく…ゲームは面白いのにここで評価下げてるのは勿体ないですね。

・操作説明が少々雑です。重要テクニックである受け身について書かれていないし（吹っ飛ばされたとき床につくタイミングでジャンプボタンを押すと受け身を取れる）、背面攻撃はワンボタンでも出来るのにそれについても書いてなかったり、初めてベアナックルをやる、ベルトアクションをやるという人に少し不親切に感じました。

・ストーリーがややチープだったかな…？ まあこの手のゲームにストーリーはあってないようなものですがｗ ボスキャラたちはデザインはカッコイイし「印象を持たせよう！」という意気は感じるのに、いまいち愛着が沸かないというか…せめてボスキャラも後々操作できるとかだったら良かったんですが、勿体ない感じがしました。

・２の終盤にあったあのドタバタ感が４には足りない気がしました。いやハード以上は常にドタバタしてるのかもしれませんが、なんというかクライマックスに向けての臨場感というか、ワクワク感というか、「うおおおぉ黒幕出てこいやあぁ！」って叫びながら殴り飛ばして突き進む～！って感じが…もうちょっと欲しかった！

【総評】
低評価が多いのは、「あのベアナックルの新作だって！？」という思いで期待たっぷりで買ってガッカリしてしまった人が多いのかなと思います。確かに名作と名高い2には劣るかもしれませんが、私の場合、外国人によるベアナックルファンの本気の二次創作みたいなもの、という温度感で手に取ったので、逆に「思ってたよりイイじゃない！」と思えました。「スペシャルエディション」はアレだけど、「ベアナックル４」自体は星１ってことはないと思いますよ！

プレイスタイルが前作と違い過ぎて違和感を感じたけど慣れると進化してることに気づくと思います。
技表が付いてるのはメガドラ時代を思い出しました。BGMもいいですね。ゲームもパッケージもシリーズをリスペクトしてることを感じました。

I probably played Streets of Rage 2 more than any game on my Sega Genesis. The gameplay was more balanced than Final Fight and the characters more diverse.

Bare Knuckle 4 is a welcome addition to the series and brawler genre! The collector’s edition is simple but the included bonuses are quality items.

If you’re a fan of the series, you’ll want to pick up this game!

操作は昔より多少は複雑でも慣れたら簡単です。
ストレスが溜まった時にこのゲームやればストレスが解消されます。
またグラフィックは手書きで再現されたのが驚きです。
難易度の影響で得点が高ければ隠しキャラや今まで行ったステージが選択できたりする等遊べる価値が満足的にあります。
ただ、残念なのは「2」でアクセルと一緒に戦ってきたマックスが敵に操られたボスキャラとして登場したのがショックでした。
