Quality of the book is very good. It seems new. It was delivered on time. The contents are great. I have been looking for this book in every book stores and finally got a copy. The lessons are so simple that you can understand them clearly. Great book for those planning to take JLPT N3 or even N2 for review.

これを教材にしてイギリス人に日本語を教えています。彼は漢字が読めないので、
全文にふりがながふってあって大変助かっています。若干4級の問題とダブっているので、
3級から4級むけの人におすすめです。

Honestly, the JLPT is merely an afterthought. This textbook gives you straight grammar with excellent example sentences and very little nonsense in between. The issue with standard textbooks is that they spend 5 pages on a topic that requires 5 sentences. I disagree with that teaching method because I feel that you only really learn grammar from both receiving a concise definition of the grammar point + usage (usage implies hearing the grammar in conversation or reading it in a natural Japanese sentence.) Textbooks spend 5 entire pages trying to explain the grammar to you and that is too easy and passive. When a new topic is too easy to learn, it is also too easy to forget. The exercises are often useless because you "write" 5 sentences by regurgitating a grammatical construct that you are simply rewriting with a different topic word each time.

1) I go to the store.
2) I go to the movies.
3) I go to the supermarket.

Worthless! :)

This textbook does away with all of that. Over 100 grammar points. Example sentences that are actually different from each other. No nonsense. Crucial Japanese. Have fun! :)
