At first, I was a little bit unsure if Takasugi even fit the style of the Rhthym Zone label which typically is dominated by artists with an R&B or hip-hop edge with a roster like Koda Kumi, EXILE, Tohoshinki, Tenjochiki and I remember watching an R&B concert and Takasugi performed and just felt that she seemed out of place and would be more fitting for the avex trax label.
Four CD singles later and here we are with "Issho ni". The latest track features a whimsical, soothing track with a free flowing beat that I enjoyed listening to quite a few times now.
The coupling track "diary" is even more of a slow paced, soothing track by Takasugi. Both tracks feature Takasugi's angelic, sweet and soothing vocals and the music for "diary" is a very romantic track.
The next two tracks are the instrumental version of the song and the final track is a "Peaceful acoustic remix" version of "Issho ni" that rids of the smoothness and cool beats and replaces it with acoustic guitar and some percussion and actually gives a fresh new outlook to the overall song.
As for the DVD, the DVD features Takasugi singing in a white dress while in the background, you get a bit of nature and white drapes playing through the backdrops.
The actual music video is not exciting but if you are a big Takasugi fan, then watching her sing is probably enough. The making of the video was actually more fun to watch as you see Takasugi being a bit more playful and playing with a dog and smiling.
The CD insert is a bi-fold featuring lyrics and production credits.
All in all, Takasugi has a very beautiful voice and for this CD single, I actually enjoyed both songs.
I see a lot of potential in her music but at the same time, with so many female artists in Japan, unfortunately Takasugi's music can get lost in the shuffle of releases. Fortunately, she has her fans that followed her when she was a gravure model, a member of WI*TH and those who believe in her potential.
I really enjoyed her song "Tabibito" from the "Saiyuki Original Soundtrack" and also enjoyed her song "Hyaku Renka" but I feel that there needs to be some unique marketing with her.
"Issho ni" features two beautiful tracks, a refreshing acoustic version of "Issho ni and another cool CD single release from Takasugi.
