My son is Ninjago mad and so when Lego announced The Ninjago Movie and the sets that they were releasing to go alongside the film to say he has been excited is a slight understatement. Obviously like any Ninjago fan he wants to be able to build and play with all of the sets but there are a few stand out sets that are top of his list such as the new [[ASIN:B06W2KC47K Destiny's Bounty]] set and this Green Ninja Mech Dragon set just to name a couple and so when this arrived and I opened the box he almost screamed the house down in excitement.
My son has almost got all of the Ninjago Dragons that have been released over the years and this Dragon reminds me a little bit of his [[ASIN:B00F3B3N2S Nindroid Mech Dragon]] as they are both obviously intended to look like 'robot' Dragon's and they both have the wheel on their tail to enable the tail to be flicked and used as a weapon but the facial detailing on this Dragon is a lot prettier and I think more Dragon-like. In case anyone has the Nindroid Dragon I can confirm that it is wider than this one but that this Green Ninja Mech Dragon is longer and feels much sturdier than the Nindroid one.
Size:-
I have measured the Green Ninja Mech Dragon and it measures 61cm long with its tail fully extended by 14cm tall to the highest point on its front shoulders by 12cm wide to its widest point at its front shoulders.
Age Suitability:-
The set is aimed at children between 8 and 14 years old and I think this age range is about right as my son did need me to help him build the set as he is younger than 8. There are quite a few stickers to apply and a few tricky parts of the build such as the joint between the front of the body and the back.
Build Bags etc:-
The set has two instruction booklets with step by step instructions and 4 build bags as well as the sticker sheet, a brick separator, a fabric lower wrap part for Wu and a fabric robe for Garmadon. The set has 544 pieces plus some small additional spares.
Figures:-
The set comes with 4 mini figures; Wu, Lloyd (The Green Ninja), Garmadon and one of his Shark Army members called Charlie.
Parts:-
The Green Ninja Mech Dragon is the only main build part and took us around 3.5 hours to build. There is also a buildable laser pointer which I think may be the Ultimate Weapon but as the film has not yet been released I'm not completely sure.
Features:-
The Green Ninja Mech Dragon is an impressive build when finished and looks fantastic. The Dragon's mouth can be opened and remains in an opened pose if wished as it is hinged and I love his golden facial features which include golden banana's for under his eyes and gold spikes under his chin. He is poseable and has joints behind his head so his head can be moved from left to right and joints behind where Lloyd sits so that his head and neck can be raised and lowered. There is a spring style joint halfway down his body so that the body moves but doesn't then bend in a strange way and a wheel just before his tail so that the tail can be snapped back and forth to swish his enemies away. There are ball joints at each of his ankles so that his feet can be positioned and moved and further joints at the top of each leg to give them full movement too. On each of his front legs he has a shooter that fires golden 1x1 stud bricks by pressing on the triggers there. He has a seat area for Lloyd to sit and there is also a clip at the side for Lloyd to store his sword when flying the Dragon. There isn't a seat for Wu but there are a few exposed studs where he can be placed. On each side of the Dragon there is an opening flap and inside there are what look like thrusters for when the Dragon is flying.
My son absolutely loves this new Ninjago Dragon and he has been happily playing with this alongside his other Ninjago sets and Ninjago Dragons since we finished building it. Definitely a Dragon that any Ninjago fan will love and it has great play value which can only be expanded upon once we finally get to see the new movie that is out in a few weeks time at the time of writing this review. As usual from Lego another brilliant set and so much detail and fun to build and play with.

This is a very impressive Lego dragon that completed measures over 50 cm in length. The dragon is very rich in detail and makes use of interesting pieces and build-techniques. The dragon also has a vast range of points of articulation so you can pose it in many ways. To my surprise it is also well able to stand on four legs without his torso dropping to the ground.2019年3月25日に英国でレビュー済み
The build is good fun, although like with all lego dragons or mech’s the arms and legs get a bit repetitive. Since the set includes many moveable parts it may be a little more challenging for the youngest builders that seem to have more ease handling more static projects.
Its only the figures that disappoint me. We already have 8 Sensei Wu’s. And even more Lloyds in his black/green ninja suit. Lord Garmadon comes in an interesting variation with his robes, but again its one of our many Garmadons. So the only nice addition is the 4th figure, one of Garmadon’s cronies.
Still a very impressive set, highly recommendable to all Lego and Ninjago fans alike.
