Face the cold with a smile!!
2018年1月9日 - (Amazon.com)
Super well constructed belay parka that is warm in all but the most extreme conditions. Good weight for loft and the highest quality Pertex shell. This item performed well on my recent winter camping trip to Acadia with snow, wind, and temps well below freezing. Even when my tent briefly blew over my core remained warm enough to build a snow wall. My toes were a different story. Packs down to a good size in its included stuff sack and light enough to throw in the backpack- good insurance for unpredictable weather. I find the zipper a little tricky to get started but like the jacket enough not to downgrade it. All the colors are nice! Face the cold with a smile!!
I was not disappointed. The fit and finish is very well done

I have a light weight down jacket but I needed a thicker down jacket for colder weather. I did a lot of research and finally decided on this. I was not disappointed. The fit and finish is very well done. Kept me warm in single digit weather. Only one small complaint. Hard to latch the zipper together to zip up the jacket. Initially tried several times without success. Wanted to return it. But we all know the hassle of returning anything and besides, You don't know the replacement would work. I put a little silicone oil on the latching area and it solved the problem! During the holidays, I watch the price daily. One day it dropped almost $100! Bought it right away at $275!

I bought this jacket in the fall of 2016 after reading a review from Outdoor Gear Lab and it has proven itself time and again in cold weather. I live in Maryland and I'm outside with a large breed dog for at least an hour or two everyday in the early morning and evening. I am also a hiker and camper well into the cold weather. Believe me when I say I have put this thing through the wringer- I'm talking daily cold weather use- and I have tried many different jackets. This is my no.1 choice no question. This jacket is technical. It's extremely wind resistant, water resistant, and amazingly toasty. It's extremely stuffable and very light for the minimalist. The materials are quality. The inner pertex is very light and it has fleece accents on the collar and on the backside of the hand pocket for added comfort. It's very comfortable- not harsh or scratchy like some winter jackets. It features one inner zippered breast pocket and two regular pretty deep hand pockets that you could stuff gloves into if needed. The velcro hood strap on top keeps the hood brim from falling into your eyes, and there are velcro wrist adjustments as well as drawstrings around the bottom of the jacket for added snugness. The hood is one of the best things about this jacket- It features a full down hood including down in the neck. You could have 40 mph frigid gusts happening around you, but will feel nothing full but your own body warmth from your head to your thighs zipped up inside this jacket. IMO it's way too warm for above 40 degrees. I can be in real feel temps in the lower 20's with just a long sleeve T or a crappy non-technical sweater underneath with no problem. This thing shines with temps in the teens and single digits. We're talking serious warmth and protection. If you pair intelligently with a wicking base layer and maybe a micro fleece, you will be incredibly comfortable in temps hovering around 0 and below. In addition to daily cold weather hiking and dog walking, I wore this for 10 days in Iceland in winter and it was a total dream. Some days I just wore it over a spandex base layer and was fine spending hours at a time trekking around Iceland. It got drenched for an hour at Gulfoss with only a slight bit of water getting in at my armpit- it did lose a little loft in this outright downpour, but did not lose warmth and dried fast in the car. It excelled in the frigid wind gusts we experienced overlooking Jokulsarlon in November. Make no mistake about it, this is a technical piece made for being worn in the cold. My only qualms with the jacket are that the zipper is a little sticky at times, the down in the hood sometimes needs to be readjusted within one of the head baffles if the hood is hung awkwardly for long periods of time. My final minor qualm is that this jacket is NOT water PROOF- rather, it is very highly water resistant with hydrophobic down and can handle short periods of heavy rain, but if you will be experiencing rain for hours at a time, you must pair with a waterproof rain shell over this jacket. This is a great investment piece for cold, harsh, relatively wet climates.
Great Puffy / Belay Jacket

Really awesome puffy that will cover you for pretty much everything in the lower 48, save a few exceptions. 850 fill down packs down very small and the pertex quantam shell is tough and resists precipitation pretty well. Very warm jacket and the hood is also warm. As with all European designed products, the zipper is left handed. Not hard to get used to though.
Why do people buy other jackets?

I can't take this jacket off. This is the most I have ever spent on a jacket, it is also the best money I have ever spent on a jacket. So far I have only tested the jacket in the 30s (F) in a sedentary fashion and it has performed great. I am looking forward to testing its performance in the worst that Kansas City has to offer.
