Phil Collinsのようなおっさん目指しておりましたが・・だめでした。

作品自体古いので、新品は・・・と思っていました。
しかし、状態の良い新品が入手出来て満足しています。
注文から商品到着までの期間も短かったのも、高評価のひとつです。

My favorite Phil CD

I have everything Phil Collins has produced and this CD is his best. Every song is a winner. My favorite song is We Said Hello Goodbye. It’s gorgeous and was only a bonus on the CD. I play this song every day. It encourages you to look forward and not backward. Get this while it’s still being produced. Sad that Phil is in such poor health. He did a FABULOUS live concert! Best I ever went to. What a talent.

I received a clear record.
Plays perfectly. Phil's face aged is a nice touch.

I'm a die hard fan of Phil & have been since the early 80's. He always does quality work & everyone of his albums have something to offer. But this 3rd album is, without a doubt, one of the best of the 80's if not all time & there was no bigger artist than Collins back in 1985. He even won a Grammy for Album of the Year & four of the singles were top ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100. "Sussudio" & "One More Night" also reached #1 and were all over the radio. But this album is more than just a few hits. Although there is alot of synth (it was the 80's after all), the rest of the album is very solid & contains lots of high energy songs with great synth, percussion and guitar. There are also a few nice ballads. One of my fav deep cuts - "Long Long Way To Go, which isn't romantic in nature but is actually a political song, has a haunting & melancholy feel to it. It also features Asian styled keyboards & Sting on b/g vocals. Awesome track & would've made a great single. Sting would also sing b/g along with another pal & former bandmate of Phil's - Peter Gabriel on the popular & likable hit "Take me Home".
Ok, as far as this deluxe edition goes...
The original 1985 disc already sounded really good so there was only so much they could do to improve the sound. But the remastering is definitely noticable in a good way if you listen to music on an iPod or in the car. Doesn't sound compressed to my ears or like there is anything missing. Just somewhat louder & fuller overall with more bass & good fidelity. Also, a music site analyzed all the tracks on Phil's reissues & were quoted as saying "The dynamics remain nearly unchanged". I agree with that statement.
Most of the bonus material on the 2nd disc are live tracks of the album's songs. There's no info about them in the liner notes but they sound like they were taken from his concert videos which are a combination of performances from his 1985 NJR tour in Dallas, 1990 "But Seriously" tour in Berlin & his Farewell tour in 2004. I was fortunate enuff to attend concerts during the last two. "Sussudio" also sounds just like his performance from the Knebworth concert in England back in 1990, which I always felt was one of his most exciting & best performances. Some other highlights are live versions of "Only You Know And I Know" which has an extended re-mix sound to it but sounds very faithful to the original (I really dug it) & "Long Long Way To Go" which has kind of an Unplugged sound to it. Phil & his band do these versions alot of justice & Phil's voice also sounded great.
The rest of the bonus material are demo's for "Only You Know And I Know", "One More Night" & "Take Me Home". They sound very similar to the originals but slightly rougher and you could tell that Phil hadn't finished the lyrics yet cuz he only sang the choruses with actual words. For the rest, he just kinda makes sounds that sound like words but aren't. Almost sounds like he's singing in a foreign language which is very interesting.
Anyway, this is a welcome re-issue & even though there is not alot of rare stuff on this release, I still feel it's worth buying if you want better sound quality or to hear excellent live versions of this album's songs.

1985's album of the year gets a makeover
2016年5月5日にカナダでレビュー済みAmazonで購入
I was one of the peeps who bought the "take a look at me now" box so that I could collect the whole set. I believe I may reviewed each title thus far. So, here's the thing. No Jacket Required was one of my favorite Phil albums as it was an incredibly strong collection of songs. I think he scored 4 top 10's with this album and it was probably one of his biggest sellers. Sussudio is a ridiculously catchy opening track and whether it was influenced by Prince's 1999 or not, it still demonstrates that Phil could create tight dance jams when required. The lead single , One more night is classic Phil with a great sax solo to send the song out as it fades. Other highlights include Don't lose my number and the albums closer, Take me home. That said, there are still a number of great tracks that never made it onto the radio that still deserve an honorable mention. I've always been very fond of Inside and out and long long way to go but the two uptempo tracks who said I would and Only you know and I know are just as solid. This album is one of Phil's most consistent, even if most critics thought that it lacked soul. Great production throughout and I wish Phil had kept working with producer, Hugh Padgham beyond this release and its follow up, But Seriously. I think they made an incredible team and Hugh pushed Phil out of his comfort zone. There weren't allot of ballads to be found on No Jacket Required, certainly not as many as on his previous solo albums. In that regard, it makes the album a very different affair. The fact that a great deal of emphasis was placed on synthesizer's as a main instrument and drum machines were used instead Phil's usual kit made for a very different sound. This reissue follows suit with the 4 before it. Comes in a gate fold format with a second disc with the entire album performed live and 3 bonus tracks (1 appearing on disc 1) There is a short forward from Phil, liner notes and lyrics. The sound design is warm and the mastering is good. Even the second disc sound's good. (A complaint that I had with the first two releases in the series was that the supplemental disc suffered from less than stellar sound) My one and only complaint is that this particularly release could have been a 3 disc set, had they the foresight to remaster and include the 5 extended remixes that were commercially released as the remix album, titled, 12ers. Certainly a missed opportunity! Other than that, its fun to revisit this collection of tunes that found Phil at his commercial peak, as is evidenced by the 3 Grammy's he won that year, including best male pop vocal, producer of the year (shared with Hugh Padgham) and Album of the year.
