Completely smooth surface provides for even spreading;Edges are tapered to a sharp point to scrape sides clean;Ergonomically shaped wooden handle allows for a comfortable grip;Ringed-together for easy access; long lasting stain-resistant color;BPA-free; Silicone heads are heat resistant up to 600F
The silicon heads are well-made with sharp edges. The handles are wooden and only 6 inches long. The handles are somewhat thin but, since these are designed for mini tasks, they feel sturdy enough. I do wish they were a bit longer to help reach into larger jars, however.
Overall, very pleased with these. Highly recommend them if you need a mini tools for the kitchen.
These are just the right size for scraping the interior of jars or other containers. A good size, too, for frosting cupcakes.
The handles are wood. The two are joined on a metal ring, but it opens to release the two handles, so you can choose to keep them on the ring or not. The wooden handles seem secure in the silicone heads, no gaps.
The wooden handles themselves are 6 inches long, not counting the silicone parts. The silicone spatula itself is about 2-1/4 inches long and the silicone spoonula is about 2 inches long. So roughly 8 to 8-1/4 inches total length.
The small utensils, a spoonula and a spatula, live up to that standard. The only difference from other utensils is the wooden handle, which might not be dishwasher safe. But I don't see how they could have put the same aluminum handle on this one. The wooden handles are just the right size for reaching into small jars (total length abouit 8 inches) and measuring cups with the leverage someone needs. My wife has grip problems and these are great for her.
The spatula was a very pleasant surprise. I expected it to be functional, but it actually exceeds my expectations. Most spatulas are either too stiff or too flexible for good cooking, but this one has just a bit of flesibility but not so floppy you can't turn a heavy pot roast with it. The handle is a bit curved, not straight like the other Tovolo implements, and that along with the bend at the bottom of the handle makes the shape ideal for getting into the bottom of a saute pan. I have used it a lot and it has become my favorite spatula. My wife would like the handle to be a bit more oval so it would be easier to get the twisting motion that one needs at times, and she is right. But overall it is at least as comfortable as any other brands I have seen, and none of the other silicone spatulas are this good.
And the price is really reasonable. I like the fact that Tovolo sticks to practical, easy-to-use designs on these tools; cute isn't usually a good idea. Yet the tools are attractive and well-made. I'm getting a second set for my mother-in-law, who is just as happy as we are with the Tovolo line of silicone kitchen implements.
