日本人ハワイアン・アーティスト、サンディーを中心に米米クラブの菅木真知子、サーカスの原順子、叶央介他が参加したプロジェクト、SANDII WITH THE COCONUT CUPSのアルバム。 (C)RS
Beautiful, soothing, authentic Hawaiian music from the Japanese-American Hula teaching songstress. Easily my favourite Sandii album but absolutely nothing like 'Heat Scale' or 'Immigrants' which are my other preferences. Whilst there is miniscule tackiness in near J-Pop undercurrents, this album is almost entirely Hawaiian and, for me, it is the rural segues that add the diamond sparkle and make this an entirely pleasurable listen, unlike the tainted but still very good and worthwhile 'Aloha Remixes' or the could have been inventive 'Mercy', 'Rhythm Chemistry', and 'Pacifica' where rhythmic Pop is soured by dubious titillation and immature commercial gloss. As a deep admirer of Keni Innue and Makoto Kubota, it is with pleasant surprise that I find Sandii's own heartfelt dedication to spiritual world peace glistening through her "solo" releases and her work with the Coconut Cups and, most particularly, throughout this wholesome and rewarding work of matriarchal artistry.
