Act "V" is finally upon us.

The latest work in the Metal Gear series, directed by game designer, director, screenwriter, and producer Hideo Kojima.
The next generation of Metal Gear has arrived, founded on concepts of photo-realistic images and appearance of the game world, and realistic "infiltration" with a high degree of freedom.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is a prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (this game), telling its origin story.
The story is set in 1975, several months following the events of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (released in 2010 as PSP software).
The game contains several kinds of sub-missions in addition to the main mission that is the crux of the story. It features a trial component in which players compete for rankings, and can be played on a 2nd device such as a smartphone or tablet.
The new system adopted for this volume offers thrilling play that we have never experienced before.


- STORY:

It is 1975. The cold war continues to thaw, and the Vietnam War had come to an end.
An army with no allegiance to any nation hides out somewhere on the Caribbean Sea.
The army's commander, known as Snake, accepts contracts from countries all over the world to back up their armies on missions they have to keep secret, and now his army has come to possess a nuclear weapon.
Information of their possession having leaked, the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) proposes a nuclear inspection.
Since they are not participants in the Non-Proliferation Treaty, or even a nation-state, the army grows suspicious of the IAEA's intentions.

Meanwhile, a certain message reaches Snake.
A former ally of his, a female spy named Paz, who was presumed dead, is alive, and being held for interrogation at a U.S. military base on the southern tip of Cuba.
The base is on leased territory, where neither American nor Cuban laws apply. It is believed that Paz's interrogation has been taken to the extreme.
A young soldier named Chico, a member of Snake's force who is in love with Paz, learns of her situation and recklessly attempts to rescue her on his own.

Soon, a radio signal comes in from Chico, who has been captured, and asks for help.
Just as the Mother Base is about to receive the nuclear inspection, Snake heads to Cuba to rescue Paz and Chico.
But this decision is the beginning of a calamity that could decide Snake's fate....

Experience the tension of feeling your enemy's gaze from 360°. Players determine the infiltration and escape routes. If necessary, you can call for a helicopter, or commandeer an abandoned vehicle on the base.

Photo-realistic graphics take the Metal Gear Solid series into the next generation.
Although the images may be rough according to today's standards, Metal Gear Solid has left an intense impression on users, producing countless memorable scenes with dynamic characters and theatrical dialog, and polished camera work and editing.
This "deja vu mission," tracing back to those memories and the starting point of the series, is only available in the PlayStation4 / PlayStation3 version of the game.

『メタルギア ソリッド V グラウンド・ゼロズ』は、『メタルギア ソリッド V ファントムペイン（本編）』へと続くプロローグとして、物語の発端を描きます。
『メタルギア ソリッド ピースウォーカー（2010年発売のPSP用ソフト）』から数カ月後の1975年が舞台。
物語の主軸となるメインミッションのほか、数種類のサブミッションも収録。ランキングで競い合えるトライアル要素、スマートフォンやタブレット端末などのセカンドデバイスにも対応。
本編への導入として、新しいシステムによる今までになかったスリリングな遊びを体験いただけます。


■STORY：

冷戦の緊張緩和が進み、ベトナム戦争も終結を迎えようとしていた1975年。
カリブ海沖に拠点を隠す、どの国家にも帰属しない軍隊があった。
その軍の指揮官、通称“スネーク”は、世界各国から公にできない任務を請け負いつつ兵力を増強し、ついには核を所有するに至る。
どこからその情報が漏れたのか、IAEA（国際原子力機関）は彼らに対し、核査察を申し入れた。
NPT（核拡散防止条約）に加盟していないどころか国家ですらない彼らは、IAEAの意図を訝しむ。

時を同じくして、スネークにある知らせがもたらされた。
かつてスネークと戦い、生死不明となっていた女性工作員『パス』が生きており、キューバ南端に設けられた米軍基地内で尋問を受けているという。
基地のある租借地内ではキューバと米国、どちらの法も通用しない。彼女の受けている尋問は過酷を極めていると思われた。
スネークの部隊に身を寄せていた、パスに想いを寄せる少年チコは、パスの窮地を知り、無謀にも単独で彼女の救出に向かってしまう。

まもなく、捕らわれたチコからスネークに助けを求める無線が入った。
核査察を迎え入れようとしているマザーベースを背に、スネークはパスとチコを救出するためキューバへと向かう。
だがそれは、後のスネークの運命を決定づける惨禍の発端だった――。
