Seeking refuge in a nearby prison, the Atlanta survivors find a sense of hope and safety within its cell blocks and away from the hordes of Walkers lurking outside the fences. The survivors quickly discover that not even concrete and steel bars can protect them from the walking dead. Build your own safe-haven or walker warzone with the new AMC's The Walking Dead Prison Catwalk construction set.
The two dioramas on the left are not mine. They're from a guy I found on YouTube who's an uber collector.
The 7 on the right are mine. I combined 5" with 2" figures because I didn't want to leave them out. I also threw in smaller McFarlane sets along with 10' Michonne and Rick sitting on the top prison cells. My own concept, I guess. I may go for more scale in the future if I decide to disassemble and redo the placements.
The pictorial instructions could use some textual help here and there. There are places where it isn't quite clear from the picture exactly which hole or peg is the correct attachment point. This can result in having to pull the building apart and backtrack to an earlier page of the instruction booklet.
I am definitely concerned over the fit of the lower cell entrance plates. Each lower cell has 2 plates and each plate attaches with one peg in the corner of the plate. These plates fall off every time I shift or move the building around [see photo]. It might not be a bad idea to pick up a package of generic baseplates to set the building on and help hold it together. There is a similar problem with the 2 stair units. They do not attach to the structure as firmly as I would like.
I am also not in love with the way the additional cells attach to the set. They do not fit nice and tight to the rest of the structure. I am concerned that this wiggle room will result in parts coming loose over time.
This set comes with 2 figures. I have to say that I am not in love with the figures from this series. They are very pretty, but they do not stand up very well at all. The little clear plastic stand keeps falling off. It is so small, that it is very difficult to position it in a way that keeps the figures from toppling over. The figures are meant to be poseable. I'm sure that this idea looked good on paper, but the arms and legs keep falling off when I try to pose them so that they will stand by themselves.
Even with all this, the set builds up into a nice little diorama piece for any figures in your collections.
