I have been using the Burt's Bees spray deodorant for over a year now. I have probably bought 6 bottles of it at this point. It lasts exactly one day for me and I wake up with mild BO, which is fine because the morning is time for a shower, anyway.
This stuff is even better. I did not have much hope at first because it sprays a lot out of the nozzle, almost like water, like they are not trying to save their precious fluid at all (Burt's Bees has a small spray in comparison) and it doesn't have much of a scent at all. With Burt's Bees, I would spray 7 pumps on each armpit and then put my arms down and move them back and forth to spread it all around my pit in sort of a chickenwing/rowboat motion, so I did the exact same thing with this EO Organic Deodorant Spray. To my surprise, even though there was basically no scent, it works better than Burt's Bees.
I accidentally tested the full power of this last weekend when I was unable to shower from Saturday evening until Monday morning. That's over 24 hours and two full nights of sleeping and there was very barely any BO scent when I showered Monday morning. Less than there would be after one night with Burt's Bees. Also, with Burt's Bees, I have noticed I began to stink a little here and there at the end of a hot day, if I jammed my nose in my armpit to check. I didn't reek from 3 feet away or anything, but I would check and based on that, judge how close I should get to anyone at the office. With this spray, in contrast, we are deeper into the hot summer months now and I have not been stinking at all.
This is my new go-to deodorant spray. I just hope they don't go out of business or something. Not sure how big EO is, but hopefully this awesome formula will make them bigger so they can be around for a long time!
PS. Vetiver might also have the added bonus of mental focus -- I'm not sure, but that's why I opted for it over the citrus. I found this spray while looking for vetiver essential oils or a vetiver candle after reading that research has shown vetiver scent is beneficial for people with ADD to help them focus. I don't have ADD, but I'm trying to learn new things... don't know if this has helped me in that department, but it helped me not stink, so that's good enough!
Background: For some reason my body has been struggling with BO for the last year. It seriously just came out of nowhere. I tried so many things: at home remedies like apple cider vinegar, other brands of natural deodorant sticks or pit powders, regular exercise, nutrition, armpit lymph-node draining techniques; I even stopped washing my armpits with soaps (water only) because I know it's the bacteria that causes the smell, not the sweat. Nothing gave me any results. It was embarrassing that within 5 minutes of getting out of the shower, I would start to smell like I had just ran a marathon. Listen, I am not ashamed of body odor. Most humans have it, and it's just a thing many go through. No big. But there came a point where I was too insecure because my smell was not just a "light BO", it was dank and potent. It could fill rooms!
I was using the Crystal brand crystal stick for some time, but I finally stopped because it always left a disgusting smell on my clothes that never washed out. It ruined many shirts, and I am not about that life. I tried natural detoxifying pit powders that were supposed to help drain clogged lymph nodes. They were supposed to cause quite a smell for a short time while all the toxins were pulled from the body through the arm pits. That was all fine, but I have used it for over a year and it STILL makes me smelly. True, the lymph nodes in my pits could be clogged more than I know, but that was an excessive amount of time for me to "wait it out."
This product arrived at night so I decided to give it a go while a slept (another time where I can randomly get really smelly). The smell is strong, but admittedly I sprayed more than I needed to. One, maybe two full pumps is plenty! When I woke up, there was nothing, no smell at all. I was shocked. I kept smelling my arm pits off-and-on for 10 minutes. May I mention, that the day before I had worn no deodorant and I was smelly before I sprayed with EO and slept. Needless to say, this product is working and I can't wait to see results on the long term. It dries relatively quick, and the scent is pleasant (think organic market smells, not main-stream commercial perfumes). After some hours, the smell lightens and eventually fades, depending on your activity. I would say a spray after a shower, then again before bed or an outing could be enough to keep you smell free all day. Not sure how fitness would play in, but I expect just a spray after tough activity will keep you smell free.
I encourage you to try it and see if it works for your body. Sometimes finding natural deodorants is a hit and miss, and being open to exploring is the best path to take. But honestly, I am extremely smelly and not just someone who is bothered by BO. I can handle the smell, but my odor was beyond normal. This has been a wonderful help in keeping me smell free, which is needed when you live in 70+ weather on the regular.
