Anyway, as I said, this is Mikoto Misaka. She is the star of 'A Certain Scientific Railgun' and a supporting character in 'A Certain Magical Index' and she is dressed in a bunny suit. And boy, does she look good in said bunny suit! Okay, so she doesn't have the bust to fill one out (something she is well aware and self conscious about), but that doesn't take away from her appeal at all. The outfit looks great on her, even if she is trying to keep the top up a bit. My favorite part about it though are the fishnet leggings. Not just because they look great, but because of how they feel. Now, I can't be certain, but it feels like they may have used actual cloth to make these things and then covered them with a protective lair of plastic. It really is a nice, even if most people aren't going to notice it.
The rest of the outfit is pretty bland, frankly. I'm not saying it's bad in any way, just average. The garters on her thighs are nicely detailed--with ruffles and a thin red lace in the middle--but they're nothing special like the leggings. Her one-piece is silky white and looks great against her skin, with red bows on both hips in order to keep it in place. She has a little bunny tail in the back (which, sadly, is just hard plastic and no attempts to make it look soft) and the bow tie and the bunny ears seal the deal. Really, if you've seen one bunny suit on an anime character, you've seen them all.
There is, however, one thing about her bunny suit that makes it stand out--assuming, of course, you own a few of these statues. Mikoto's actually fits her nicely. What I mean is, it's not...squishy in the back. Now, because The Railgun is sitting down, her thighs and butt are...well, she's got curves down here, okay? And naturally, she has those straps that connect her garters and fishnet stockings to her top. Now, on pretty much any other statue, this would call for some serious fan service. The backside of Mikoto's outfit would be perhaps a bit too small, revealing more of her butt, or the straps and outfit would be a bit too small, making her cheeks appear to be almost bursting out of her outfight (like Strike Witches do). But that's not the case her. Yes, you still get your fan service her (she is in a bunny suit, and they are meant to look hot), but it's not over the top like most of the time--likely because Mikoto would have killed anyone who tried to make her do that.
Special mention to the shoes though. Those are some red high heels, and holy cow does it pull the whole look together. "Fierce" doesn't begin to cover them.
Now, where this statue shines is from who is wearing it and how they posed her. Mikoto's pose is nothing short of adorable, and what's better is that she has two faces. There is the one where she is simply smiling, as seen in the picture, and another where she is blushing and embarrassed. The way to change the faces is to simply pull Mikoto's face off. Be gentle when you pull, and it will pop right off. Then, quickly put on the new face, otherwise you are going to be staring at something out of a nightmare.
They eyes on both faces are highly detailed, with deep brown coloring that really makes Mikoto come to life--whether she's embarrassed or just smiling. Personally, I prefer the default smiling face.
Her hair may leave a bit to be desired for some people. It really is just a mass of brown plastic, with very little attempt to style it up or anything like other statue makers do. But you have to remember, this is Mikoto. Short of the little beret she wears (which she is wearing here), odds are she just wakes up, shakes her head, and heads out the door to challenge Toma. So while it is plain, it is also very true to her character.
The chair she sits on is...honestly, it's probably the most disappointing part. Now, I know what you're thinking: why do I care about a stupid chair? Mikoto is the star here! And that's true! It's also true that the chair serves its purpose perfectly. She sits on it just right, and her right leg is just long enough that her toe touches the ground and keeps her balanced. And for those of you wondering why her hand is between her thighs in the picture, it's because she's using it to hold on to the chair, which is really cute I think.
It's just, the chair feels so cheap. You pick Mikoto up, and she has some weight to her. Honestly, if you hit someone with her, you're going to do some damage. But the chair? It's super light, and the top of it doesn't even click into place or screw on. It just sits on the peg of the stool--which is fine, because Mikoto's not a toy, but...well, let's just say that clearly most of the budget for this went into the figure, and that the chair is going to break if you hit someone with it.
On a final note--and this is perhaps the most important part--Mikoto. Is. HUGE! I bought her thinking she would just sit nicely with all my other 1/8th scale figures. Nope. She dwarfs all of them, and is even a bit taller that my 1/6th Ayane. If you are expecting something the size of a Kotobukiya statue, you're in a for a shock. Check the pictures for the comparison.
Bottom line--It's Mikoto Misaka. In a bunny suit. What more do you want? Shirai will certainly take it.
