I have a PC with two monitors and I want to hear sound from them both but my graphics card only has one HDMI port. It does have two DVI ports, although my prior understanding was that being DVI (Digital Video Interface) they would support video but not sound.
I wanted to find a DVI to HDMI cable that would carry a sound signal to my monitor. This HORIC HDMI-DVI cable does do so. One of my monitors is connected to the PC using a standard HDMI-HDMI cable and the other monitor is connected from its HDMI port to the DVI-D port on the graphics card. I can configure both to output sound. Yeah!
I suspect that this set-up would work with any monitor that has speakers and an HDMI port but, as I understand it, not all graphics card will support the output of sound through its DVI port. However, I can say that my graphics card is an "NVIDIA GeForce 750 GTX Ti" and my monitors are "ASUS VX239H" models and it works for me.
